What are the rules?
No flaming: Try to behave yourself and not cuss out other users, even if they did you any wrong. If you do this, chances are you will get punished just as hard as the one offending you.
No spam: Try to make your posts and comments longer than 7 words, otherwise it can be considered spam and deleted.
No circumventing our Censor: If you really have to swear, let the censor do the censoring, and do not try to write it out in a way that could bypass our censor.
Try not to post in really old threads. There is a reason for them not to be on the front page. Make a new one, if you are concerned about something. (Usual guideline is in between 10 pages/two weeks of searching back in the section).
Relevance. Make sure your thread or post actually is relevant to the section or thread you post in. And that you are contributing to the topic.
Flagging/reporting:
If you find posts or threads that break the rules, but in a non harmful (and thus urgent way), flag these posts by clicking the red flag on the side.
If the rule being broken is harmful, report the offender to a mod with a link to the place the rule is being broken, and who the offender is.
Spam:
Spam in our context is either short (unnecessary) posts, shorter than 7 words, is unrelated to the topic completely, is advertising links to external sites or to threads that is unrelated to the topic.
Spam is also repeated posts and copied posts or comments. Please do report such happenstances to a mod.

We have a list of common suggestions, but considering the soon to be released AG3, you are better off suggesting something for the new version, than trying to get something done in this.

Who are the mods?
This lot.
If you believe you could be a mod, do not ask the other mods if you could be one, either show us through a good behaviour, or use the contact page to ask the staff. Please do not suggest other users either. If they are not mods yet, then they are either being considered already, we are not looking, or they have been rejected (for now).
Merits:

A merit is a reward given to good, useful and constructive game comments (as well as a prize for winning certain contests in the art section).
It consists of 25AP and a nod in your merit-count.
Mods are always on the lookout for merits when they clean spam from games, so if you have not gotten a merit for some outstanding comment of yours, either we have not yet seen it, or perhaps it was not as outstanding as you thought.
Remember that being given a merit is not a right.
Please do not ask for merits or suggest comments for merits, we can do this job fine ourselves.

How do I find a friend of mine?
You can either ask them for their username, or go looking in the forums. There is no real way to search for them, besides our various costom searches, one which can be found here.

How do I friend another user?
Go to their profile, click the green "ADD FRIEND" button. You have now friended the other user.

We do have moments of disappearing games for some reason. Check it is just not loading. Hopefully this will be resolved in AG3.

So in short: make sure you are actually contributing to the site and/or others enjoyment of it and not just trying to earn attention? Usually that trick works for me when it comes to remembering rules.

I'm confused. So even if I asterisk out a whole swear word (just as the filter would) I get in more trouble?
What if the word I'm saying in question may or may not be considered a swear word (like a dirty slang term that isn't so commonly known as a swear word, but pretty bad anyway), but I need to post it to get a point across. Should I not censor it or ask about it? (I guess the need doesn't arise too often.)
Lastly what if I am going to convey that I have a swear word in my post but I want it censored in a way so that it has more asterisks than necessary (so that people cannot easily guess what swear word it is by counting the asterisks)?
I don't think I ever have used a swear word. But I'm just curious to know. [Especially because I thought it was better to self censor based on the fact that the system may not recognize a lessor known dirty word or a clean word used in a dirty context.]

You want to put down a swear word but give more work for yourself to conceal the swear word so people still know it's a swear word but do not know what word the swear word is? Wat?
Best thing to do is to not swear. If you *must*....let the filters take care of it.

I'm guessing that what would get you in trouble is just replacing one letter with an asterisk, leaving most of the word still readable.
Okay for the example's sake let's say "yellow" is a swear word.
Question 1: I can't filter the "swear" word yellow as ****** myself?
Question 2: You know someone might be debating something somewhat seedy or some sort of internet slang. Maybe another internet slang term comes into use. I can't filter out dirty slang terms (like the one's on urban dictionary)?
Question 3: I want to say the swear word "yellow" but I don't want it to be obvious what swear word I am saying so I filter it out with 20 asterisks instead of only six. This way if a kid is trying to look up what swear I said, they can't go to google and type in 20 letter swear word, because the probably won't get the right results. It's just generally against the T&C to use such slang for a negative purpose.

Well if you want to work more for something simple, then fine, but it's just better if you don't use swears.

Certain discussions in the forum lead to words like these. If they don't lead to what I said above, then it should be fine. If it is a discussion, pg-13 appropriate, which is not intended to be negative (and is not filtered out, in which case the discussion can be confusing), then using the word should be fine.
A good example is the R word. This pops up in various discussions, but can be used negatively. If for the latter, then it comes with bad consequences. If used maturely and in a civil matter, then it is fine. I don't think the entire group of users that discussed **** were warned/banned for using the word in a healthy manner.

I do think that they want the filter to filter the swear words because this will be a good notification to the admins (maybe the mods can see it too?) as to who is swearing a lot. But then again I'm not sure, so that's why I asked lol.
<rant>Guys! Excess... No really, X-cess-pit. Really, if ya'll bother to learn the language and use your brains, I bet'cha can come up with some really original awesome speech to get your points across... Be it *hating hating* to *omg emphasis to get my really positive point across*... Come on, give the questions a break... I know the wording and exact nature of the rules are dismally vague, but try to be mature and ignore the poor site admin's lapses? They are trying their best to follow the law so as not to get sued, ya know... :P (/rant)
i don't curse at all, not in real life, not in the computer.i think that the people who do that shouldn't get a warning, because if they followed the rules-which is written on the website and they could look at it at any time-they wouldn't be cursing at all. that is my view on the topic, and i hear words like that in my school every five seconds, and it annoys the heck out of me.
