I am a christian, i and i strongly belive in my lord jesus christ, and i also belive that if you belive in him and except him as your savior, u will go to heaven. and i also believe that he created the world, not the big bang, or that we came from stupid apes.

There's this story in the Bible about Moses having to hold the staff of God above his head in order to aid the Israelites to victory against the Malakites. And there are many other stories of God not only condoning, but facilitating the deaths of those on the "wrong side" of a battle.
If that commandment were taken literally, then all those people would have broken it. There are obvious translational issues and further complications even in the intention of the passage.
Yet another example of how scriptures like the Bible are descriptive of already accepted morals within a society, rather than a normative explanation of what we ought to do.

I realize the Bible contradicts itself in almost every other word. There are countless stories about Bible cruelty and violence, I am merely pointing out that "thought shalt not kill" means exactly that, even if they are killing each other wile saying that.

The OP looks as if he barely knows what he's talking about and this gets 1,000 posts? W-O-W.

Anyway, Christianity is better because Jesus existed and he is my savior. I embrace him as my savior because he died for my sins, and his father was God. The Big Bang is weird and evolution sounds stupid because everything is as it was and will always be like that. I'm going to heaven because I believe all that. Atheism is stupid because you don't believe in anything and you will rot in a hole or be burned. Besides, God is powerful, so He will make my life great as long as I believe in him. Plus, He will keep me away from the temptations of the evil Satan.

Didn't you make some argument that got deleted about being a polytheist earlier?

evolution sounds stupid because everything is as it was and will always be like that.

The evidence would suggest otherwise.

I'm going to heaven because I believe all that.

Believing something to be true doesn't make it true.

Atheism is stupid because you don't believe in anything

Atheist just means the lack of belief in a deity, not everything.

That's called question begging. It's like saying murder is wrong because you're killing someone. Plus, there's good evidence to show that Jesus never existed - i.e., Mithraism. Just Google it.

I embrace him as my savior because he died for my sins, and his father was God.

You should learn more about your religion. Jesus' father isn't God - Jesus is God. But Jesus is also a distinct entity. Theists call this the divine mystery of the Trinity. I call it a straight up logical contradiction.

The Big Bang is weird and evolution sounds stupid because everything is as it was and will always be like that.

If you think the big bang theory sounds stupid, you should read the quote above and how this guys explains why the theory sounds stupid.

I'm going to heaven because I believe all that.

So says your made up religion. Hell, I'm going to Olympus to live with the gods because I think Athena is really awesome. You must realize how much sense this line of reasoning makes. In case you don't - it's none.

Atheism is stupid because you don't believe in anything and you will rot in a hole or be burned.

I have plenty of beliefs, so what on earth are you talking about? And I'll be careful of scary holes I may fall in or fires that I may accidentally walk into. Again, you must realize how silly this all sounds.

Besides, God is powerful, so He will make my life great as long as I believe in him.

So your supposed love for God is really just you mooching off His powers? Also, I'm pretty sure it takes a little more than mere belief in God to make your life great. After all, Satan believes in God.

But I'm sure you know your religion better than I. Good luck with your mere belief in a magical man in the sky and some terrible argumentation against well-established theories. But honestly, I can't expect much more from a Christian.

I think I would rather believe in God. Why go against him?

Because I want to be a responsible cognitive agent. I want to hold true beliefs. And as lovely as that little argument you put forth is, there's the simple matter than we can't choose what we believe. I can't just make myself believe in God any more than I can make myself belief there's a pink donkey sitting on my couch.
And the 50/50 wager turns into some much lower probability when you consider the literally thousands of gods that have been introduced throughout human history.

"If I believe in God, I will be saved, or nothing will happen. If I wouldn't believe in God, I have a chance to either die in hell, or that nothing will happen."

Thats a very bad argument to use... it works for global warming but not for something that is faith based. And atheism is not AGAINST all beliefs in god, athiests just dont believe there IS a god. So how can athiests be against something that is believed NOT to exist? I am against people using their belief to justify something that is wrong. Believe in your god all you want, but you have no logical reason to.

You guys don't know **** about sarcasm.

Sarcasm is a tone, which is really difficult to pick up on when simply reading text. That's why most people, when being sarcastic, usually indicate that, something by using something like /sarcasm at the end of their post. Your posts genuinely looked like a heartfelt argument for Christianity. And to be fair, I just got done destroying some loser using very similar arguments to try to *save* me last night while I was out drinking :P

Apparently Jesus was a fella who liked to drink- why else would he turn water into wine at a wedding?

So a girl talked him into drinking. Your point?

Well, that is TECHNICALLY a metaphor. His body is turned into wine.

Who said he drank the wine?
