I am a christian, i and i strongly belive in my lord jesus christ, and i also belive that if you belive in him and except him as your savior, u will go to heaven. and i also believe that he created the world, not the big bang, or that we came from stupid apes.
"Hi, Homosexuality should be illegal because it's what the Bible wants. However, the parts about women as property or slavery being OK don't count anymore."
In the Bible, Jesus respected women, the apostles took the stereo type of that time when they wrote the New Testament. Homosexuality is wrong because marriage is the union between a man and woman and their family. Homos can't create children (I know they could adopt, but sex is supposed to create children to bring together the man and woman, not the man and man).
drschust As a response to Yazooka99k, I don't believe being a homosexual is wrong. I believe homosexual acts are morally wrong but not legally. I think Gay Marriage is wrong because the point of marriage is to create a family not just to mess around. If two homosexuals want to have fun and live together that's legally fine, but that's not the point of marriage.
Moegreche I don't think that's the point of marriage for most people. It is also neither a sufficient nor a necessary condition for having children. What if I feel in love with a woman who was incapable of getting pregnant? Or if I was sterile? Does this mean these marriages are for "messing around?" But these Christian responses on social issues is really just a red herring that tries to detract from the core issues. Once someone tries to give an argument that doesn't involve religion (say, that homosexual couples can't have kids) it completely fails.
In response that marriage is purely for childen - excellent argument Moegreche - I'd agree with that sentiment. The master at my Kung Fu school doesn't have any children, and as far as I know, him & his wife just aren't interested in it. As for barring gay marriage; you can't oppress the rights of the minority because the majority disagrees with it. Take a look at the civil rights movement with the Black populace in the United States.
you can't oppress the rights of the minority because the majority disagrees with it.
Very true. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if people's freedoms were restricted because of opinion, our idels of freedom would be meaningless.
I asked you about twenty pages ago (sorry for wait) whether there is an absolute morality. You said yea. So you believe logic and reason can figure out who created the universe, but logic can't figure out whats a just action?
No. . .I said that morality exists, but is not absolute.
Your spirit is thought, it dies when you die. Which is why you cannot communicate with those who are already dead. Some people pretend to, and those are called scammers
Sorry to Moegreche and everyone else I meant not just createing children but createing a traditional family. If you can't biologically create children due to health reasons then of course that's not wrong. I guess the theory goes its fine because you would create children if you had the opportunity. The Catholic Church has always stood against artificial birth control and taken heavy heat for it.
Also, why do gay people need to get Married. Whats the difference between two gay guys living together and two gay guys married?
It is the consensus of the populace within a society that makes something morally acceptable or immoral, rather than written codes.
As for barring gay marriage; you can't oppress the rights of the minority because the majority disagrees with it.
Take a side HiddenDistance you contradicted yourself really really badly.
Further all of you who believe in relative morality, what are you trying to accomplish by arguing with me about gay marriage. If morality is relative then I'm just as morally right as you. In fact you have no right to comment on anything moral because its all Relative.
This why relative morality means to me at least no morality. ( I think most people who say they believe in relative morality Live using Absolute morality. Case in point HiddenDistance)
Look in a situation like this, nobody is wrong, we all have different beliefs, as with christian boy, you maybe right, you maybe wrong. Me too (I could be right, I could be wrong), this is all just speculation.
Sooo.... DDX is that really how live your life. No moral right or moral wrong just speculation. How then do you decide whether to follow Atheism or Christianity or Buddism or Hinuism or Shintoism or Islam?
If you truly follow what you said then you might as well have picked your religious beliefs using a bingo machine. I mean "it may right, it may be wrong".
well sir I'm Agnostic, I cast aside my first Catholic then Christian beliefs.
That means I believe there is a GOD, he had something to do with creation of the Universe. Thats about it.
IMO: Religion is crap, but I do not know everything, so there has got to be some kind of a place where all the pieces of a puzzle that don't fit go, and for that I dump that into a bin labeled "God".
