Hardcore Caver didn't trigger for me, and now the last boss is gone.

Also, Kongregate's badges for this game is easy(compared to AG's). It's:

-Found one secret room+use escape wings with one artifact or more.
-Kill first boss(Giant Spider).
-Player Level 15.
-Game Completed.

Numerous people have reported Hardcore Caver works just fine. Its just very hard to do.

Hardcore Caver must be one of the most hard quests on Armor Games except for games like "Give up 2". Once, I started at zone 40 and I got all the way to zone 80 because I put some MP regen on my items (on accident lol) but it seemed to work out, because I could just heal all the time while having full MP and I was still gathering pots I wasn't using. I died at zone 80 though.... I think the point for Hardcore Caver is just to survive the first 10 zones with a bit of luck and good items, and after that you just enchant your weapons and armor with MP heal, get the heal ability and you're done! Just zone 80 though. Transmute is absolutely useless so I guess you can save lots of MP for that.

Ok, there is another question. "One run" in "Hardcore Caver" means you can't save, exit and then continue?

There is a bug in the online save, I think I save in two different saves and now that I have finished the game in one run. the one that had come up now was the last file I thought that was lost. Now i'm thinking to clear the files and redo it all over again :|

I don't think this is true. The soft save(aka the only one allowed) leaves you on the same floor. In other words, you can take breaks, just don't use the escape wings(until after you kill lvl 80 boss).

Well, did it twice with saving/exitin/continuing, but without Escape Wings. No quest. Which is annoing. But, then again, @randomblah got this quest, so he must know, what he is saying.
Quest hardly may be glitched, lots of people got it. This must mean, I am doing something wrong... wonder, what.

Also 2nd time I got trolled by boss with his "line of dragons". Good line of defense against diggers.

Oh, well it's also worth mentioning that it must be a fresh game(e.g. the save must never have used wings).

Are you:
1. Resetting your account before each run(under options)? I've been told this is unnecessary(dying apparently doesn't count against you, but I do think it kills your stat gem gain).
2. You should be starting from level 1, floor 1
3. Are you refusing to use escape wings on any run?

its harder and takes more time to achieve collector than hardcore caver.
If you already finished the game once. Its very easy to achieve hardcore caver the real challenge is getting pass though 1-30.

Hm... Alpha, I'm not sure then. My best advice is to try it in one session without saving. It is possible to double-tab and essentially create save states by doing so; maybe the devs disabled saving to prevent this abuse?

For reference, I got the quest after looting the treasure chest at the end for the Hero's sword.

It's also quite possible that the quest is straight up glitched due to some recent changes(dunno if any were made).
