Any enjoyment of the PvP element is quickly eliminated when you realize that poison is just stupidly OP compared to anything else and matches are just filled with people blindly exploiting it.
This game needs some serious balance work.
I'm not completely sure, but it looks like the gem crafting and newcomer quests are not working for players who just started Rise of Champions. The newcomer seems stuck at 10%, while the gem crafting should probably have triggered a while ago(somewhere around lvl 3 gem right now). I've closed the window and reopened the game, and no good.
Treasure hunt and Kayur Awakening have worked though.
Same here for level 10 and gem !
First of all poison is not op. I'm almost veteran player since I'm tier 9 with pretty good gear and I have to say this game is very balanced. However you may experience problems with poison in low tiers from 1 - 5 since a lot of people are using 2 warriors, 1 rogue and 1 mage. Its easy to defeat build like that one. Believe it or not every single build has it own anti build. If you dedicate your time into research you may find that there are many builds and styles to play this game. My personal favorite is melee build. I hope that answered your question and once again Poison is not OP.
Finally got my quest after one day !
@Pickorita88 - what a useless post. It basically amounts to 'poison is not OP because I said so'.
I never said it was unbeatable. I said that it was BETTER than anything else. Which it is, which is why everybody and their dog is using it in PvP. The fact that a semi-effective counter exists takes away from that not at all, because it is still effective against any other build. Having a semi-counter build is the absolute worst kind of balance possible, because it turns PvP into a blind rock-paper-scissors roll. If your build counters the enemy build you win, otherwise you lose. That's a TERRIBLE way to balance a game (if you saw scouting information on the enemy before the fight and had 1 minute to change your lineup, it would be OK because then it turns into who is the better strategist).
The problem with poison is that it is, frankly, better than any other choices for abilities. There is no meaningful sacrifice from using poison weapons because is ALSO gives you significantly increased damage for the duration.
Take off the increased damage modifier of Poison Weapons and reduce the % of poison applied to AOE attacks to 25% instead of 50% and poison builds would be still good, but not great.
@Ferret - both the Craft Level 1 Gem quest and Reach Level 10 quest are not working. I'm level 11 and have crafted 3 Level 1 gems at this point, and the quest has still not activated (Level 10 is at 10%, meaning it thinks I'm still level 1)
Both of them have triggered now (2 days after completing the requirement). Don't know if they fixed it or if it was just really, REALLY slow in recognizing it.
I told you already when you get to tier 7 - 8 you'll see there are builds that can kill poison build in less than 30sec. Poison build is good only in low tiers and its pretty bad afterwards..
@Pickorita88 - once again all you're doing is saying, 'Poison isn't OP because I said so'.
The existence of builds that beat powerful builds does not in any way affect how powerful they are. It makes it WORSE because it means everybody plays either X build, or Y build that beats X build. As I've already stated, that turns PvP into a stupid RNG generator. If Y build matches against X build it wins, otherwise X build wins.
That's a terrible way to balance a game, and the game creators don't seem to be interested in actually fixing balance problems.
I noticed the number of quests done when I look at my profile doesn't match the number of quests when I look at the hero board. The 4 quests I got from this game yesterday don't seem to count at the hero board. I wonder if @Ferret knows about this.
Or you don't wanna learn anything about game and you keep bragging how poison is op. Go to official forum & kong forum learn a thing or two and then you'll see I'm right.
For those of you who are Rise of Champion veterans, does anyone have an idea of how long it would take to get a lvl 3 mutation? Also, how should one (efficiently) accelerate this(short of playing 24/7)? So far, 2 days+ ~20 keys have yielded 1 void demon mutation(need 4 identical mutations for lvl 3?) and 1 arcane shard(my understanding is I need 20 or so shards).
So far, it seems the rest of the quests should only take 1-2 days. If you're RNG-gimped for getting a legendary, raise the blacksmith to lvl 5 and start melding items(3 epics+2 flawless = 94% legend, similar odds exist for upgrading rarity). The Kayur awakening quest can be completed rather easily(second story event, note that the blue dot never moves, which confused me at first).
@randomblah - It takes way too long to get the items needed for a lvl 3 mutation. For upgrading to lvl 2 you need 2 identical lvl 1 mutations and 5 archaic fragments. I don't know how much fragments you need for lvl 3, but I guess it will be more than 5.
For me ~20 keys have yielded 1 void demon mutation and 1 archaic fragment. The other mutation was bought from diamonds I earned for free from the offers. So I guess it will take at least 1 month to get this quest. And that's exactly the point why I hate quests in mmo. Especially when they're p2w.
So now back to 1 month of brainless grinding... but at least the brawls are fun
