This might confuse new users. A templar is a knight and everything from #20 onward outranks a knight.

In my opinion , ranks are not unique enough . I mean you will surely know that King is beyond Peasant, but in range from 6 up to 20 , you don't have clear indicators!

These are reasons why I tried to make a list that is 1) inspired by actual hierarchies and 2) doesn't include military ranks, but it is hard to come up with something that is consistent and which has enough ranks.

It's abit hard because no system in the world has a complex enough nobility hierarchy. Or at least one where we know most of the names. Most of the names on the list seem good though.

What happened with the old system of Wood/Iron/Gold? Was that not unique enough?

As for the #1, shouldn't that just be "Gantic"?

So, how about "White Rabbit"? it sounds... better and more funny

Technically speaking two users at the moment share rank #25 , the only difference is in amount of stars!

How about introducing, at a certain point, the possibility of choosing between two or more parallel branches? For example, either go up the military, guild, or clerical branch. Making them separate could avoid the inconsistency of a mixed list, and introduce a certain amount of choice. Though admittedly it would be more complicated to make.

Royalty based and Military based

Sprinkled with some clerical ranks, apparently

Creating this 2 lists were not easy at all, I had to research quite a lot, especially for Royalty tree! I also have a 3rd option where (Laborer,Stonemason,Woodcutter,Blacksmith,Metallurgist,Merchant etc.) are included, but ...

Sprinkled with some clerical ranks, apparently

That's like a puzzle , but unavoidable

@HahiHa I feel like that may be fun in the future, but we should start simple as possible.

@ivanxxxxxxx It's pretty great! I do feel like some people may not understand what some of those ranks mean though. How do you feel about that?

@Ferret

I wouldn't be too skeptical about it, it's far from being illogical!
Even if so , small description could help , or official page where ranks are explained!
I can provide a detailed description if needed be, for each rank!

it seems to me that the only subtle part is the rank 19 (knight) on military ranking/listing/(whatever name the thing has). we can simply emphasize that being promoted to knighthood by a mod/admin isn't the same with getting enough stars to achieve the knight rank

Want to add: If you had in mind some tweaking , sure why not! It's basically a sketch version, it doesn't have to be exact as proposed. After all it's not that important , we can start with something and adjust it as we move on.

Justiciar

Ivan, after ranks are launched, maybe we can have a page for describing each of those ranks which are finally decided by the admins? How about it, Ferret?

A few things about this. The early ranks ramp up far to quickly, what happened to Peasent?

Knight shouldn't be a rank, as we have Knights already unless we are changing them somehow.

Several of these are confusing, feels like we could eliminate the confusing ones and pad the earlier ranks. I really like "Nomad" for rank #0, as it's a person who's not involved.

Templar

Here's a possible improvement to the above ranking system:

#0 - Nomad
#1 - Serf
#2 - Peasant
#3 - Farmer
#4 - Blacksmith
#5 - Squire
#6 - Jester
#7 - Pursuivant
#8 - Herald
#9 - Constable
#10 - Treasurer
#11 - Templar
#12 - Justiciar
#13 - Chancellor
#14 - Chamberlain
#15 - Lord & Lady
#16 - Baron & Baroness
#17 - Count & Countess
#18 - Priest & Priestess
#19 - Duke & Duchess
#20 - Archduke & Archduchess
#21 - Grand Duke & Grand Duchess
#22 - Viceroy & Vicereine
#23 - Regent
#24 - Prince & Princess
#25 - King & Queen

I replaced some of the high ranks with some low ranks from the OP. I also replaced Knight with Templar and moved it behind Justiciar like in the OP. In addition, I changed Villein to Serf and moved it to rank 1 based on information from this Wikipedia article.
