its economy is pretty much entirely tourism.

I don't think Castro lets too many people in and out...

A lot of capitalist nations depend on tourism in that area anyway...

They're not failing at all, comrade, they just have really bad embargoes from other nations and poor civil rights. They've been here for decades. Infact, they've out lived the Soviet Union by almost twenty years.

North Korea is an impoverished hellhole with a psychotic dictator at the helm who's done nothing but make everyone hungrier.

They're failing.

In fact, 99% of their population doesn't even have electricity most of the day.

Cuba got over 2.7 billion dollars in tourism revenue last year. Tourism is a huge part of their economy.

Also, are there any other countries that depend on tourism? I'd love to hear some examples.

And we wonder why they're failing?

Cuba was never really a wealthy nation in the start. You need to understand that politics and economics are a lot deeper then the first look and analyze things much more deeply. Events having millenniums ago still have an affect on current day politics. You cant just look at Cuba and say "Oh its socialist, its failing because so". Cuba is a little island on the coast of the USA and it has quite a low population. Conditions were actually worse post revolution. It was a backwards country to construct socialism on in the first place.

Cuba actually has the best education and medical system within its capitalist Latin America nations. Failing? Nah

Cuba's growth is also very much slowed down by the USA's imperialist policies. USA would be the largest trader of Cuba and would greatly increase its economic wealth, but I don't know if you know this or not, but the USA has had an embargo on Cuba for over 50 years now!

And they refuse to throw out the policy with the reason being "The Cuban government needs to be pressured to allow freedom" or some shit like that. They say they want the best for the Cuban people and yet uphold such an embargo that hits Cuba's economy directly.

Also, there are many capitalists nations failing.

How about most of the islands Cuba is near? And since Cuba made a wopping 2.7 million, they can't be failing! Right?

If North Korea was actually failing, we'd see a government collapse and social turmoil. All I see is a closed system getting by through terror. It isn't failing; it's a bad place to live.

Hey, middle eastern nations with opressive governments that aren't failing because they have a lot of oil! Oh, China has a big economy because there's a lot of people there! Also, the ocean is really wet! Award please!

Those aren't valid analogies.

Rich people like to go to tropical islands - so they have lots of tourism money.

If rich people didn't like to go to tropical islands, they would not have lots of tourism money.

We're already socialist. The governments are united not to let fluctuations in wealth happen again. So that's that guy Marx who wrote it in that one Das Kapital. They're following his advise now. Obama is I mean.

Taking from the middle class and giving to failing car companies is obviously communism...

Oh yeah, because 60% of GM is the entire means of production and Obama is the entire proletariat . . . .

Do. Research. About. What. Socialism. Really. Is.

This is what I'm talking about:

http://www.experiencefestival.com/a/Socialist_economics_-_Relation_to_other_economic_theories/id/2113365

USA in the global economy. We won't have highs and lows anymore, everything is going to level out according to the best interest of the workers in the world.

The Free Market was a thorn in the side of socialist economies world wide. Their aim is to control their economies, but investing in America was bad for them because you couldn't predict what was going to happen in a free market. So now as an apology, we're committed to unifying the global economy so that world-wide depressions don't ever happen again. That's socialism. We're doing it.

Yeah, any free market economy is going to have highs and lows. It's just how capitalistic economies work.

You've confused socialism with totalitarianism. And so, your entire argument falls apart.

Socialism is where the means of production are owned by the people and the government is run in a directly democratic fashion (for the most part, at least).

Once again, your definition of socialism is wrong. And so your argument that the USA is socialist is too.
