Story here.

Do you think this was a smart choice?

Will he be able to pick up Hilary supporters?

Will McCain lose/gain some ground on his argument that Obama lacks experience?

Or do you not care because the vice-president doesn't actually do anything?

I would think a politician his age would be untrustworthy if he said he never did drugs.

Another point: Obama admits in his autobiography that when he was 17, he was skipping school, doing drugs, and coasting between highs. It has never been mentioned by the drive-by media.

This is because since he said it himself, the media would back off from using that information. I'm pretty sure the impact would be a lot worse.

I really don't think that past matters. He seems different from that doesn't he?

You can't blame it all on the parent. Also, how can her child determine how she will help lead this country? You are basically saying Obama's mother had "lack of parenting" as well.

I was saying that how your children turn out is more of a reflection on you then what your parents are like as far as common sense is concerned (even though by Obama's own account his mother was a fantastic parent). When you're kids screw up and the parent seems good people tend to still think that it's the parents fault, however when a child does well even though his/her parents are screwing up then the child managed to overcome all of that even when neither situation is often the case.

But according to the "mainstream" media, you can't attack Obama's family or you're a racist. Now they attack Palin's family in an attempt to find any dirt possible on her.

If anything, they are not attacking her as much as they should, because she is a woman. The sword is a double edged one.

They say that you can't even talk about Obama's children, but what is the first thing that the drive-by media does with Palin? They attack her through her daughter.

What in the world would they have to say? That they got to be a school crossing guard this year?? They are very young children, what dirt can you really get on a 7 year old?

Yea they do, I have heard this talked about on the news. But it was all revealed a while ago. It is not like some secret he tried to keep, so they weren't blowing anything open. If he presents it beforehand in a matter of fact way, it is not going to be as big of a deal. It is when a nice juicy secret they were trying to hide that gets blown open that everyone gets excited. He was very smart to come forward with it himself.

Agreed, but I'm not sure if he was planning on running for president while writing his book or not. Either way, it still benefited Obama.

Also, that was when he was 17. I'm 17, and I know I've already made my fair share of skeletons to hide in closets later on. Not to mention he had a troubled childhood, etc.

Palin seems to have done pretty well for herself, though. I can't say that I'm not impressed that she rose from a PTA mom to governor, and now running mate. However, Alaska doesn't have a whole lot of people to handle. I'd be more impressed if she were governor of a state with a larger population.

Yea, I would agree with that. She has done well for herself, but is it really on the scale to become vice president?

Hey, at least he got it out of his system!

Honestly, and I know this sounds bad, but if he becomes president I am afraid he might croak at any point. He is pretty old. Not only do you get more senile with age, but who knows what might happen to him. For goodness sake, his wife broke her wrist because someone shook her hand a little too hard. Kinda emphasizes the frailness of their age, eh?

And if he dies, then we have Palin. And maybe she is ok as VP. But do you REALLY want her as president?

I think shes a nobody and is only OK because she would be too afraid to make any decisions, and therefore not be corrupt.
