My personal opinion is that guns are just fine. Guns help us provide security for our families if something ever happens, but I want to here your opinions.
I agree with Drace, but I would like to take it one step further: I have heard people say, "No one needs an AK-47!" Why not? The second amendment is there to protect our country from threats both foreign and domestic. Granted, I don't need one for defense from day to day criminals, but in time of revolution or invasion, I wouldn't be caught dead without an AK-47.
Guns in and of themselves are not good or bad. It is the person who wields them who can garner that distinction. In the hands of a police officer or soldier, protecting people, guns are good. In the hands of a criminal, someone who has no moral objection to harming people, guns are bad.
Guns are a very good thing, you have to think past killing humans with them, theres many other ways to kill someone, but without guns we would have to go back to bow and arrow or farther to catch game (for the people that arnt hunters, its animals that you catch and eat) it would be incredibly hard to catch them
Guns are good. Guns provide the human race with an easier time of surviving. Guns are also good for security, protection, and the it can make humans feel more secure in their lives.
Many people would say that guns are bad and all that, because they make it easy to commit crimse and kill people. HOWEVER, remember that humans have a CHOICE of whether or not to kill others and to commit the crime. Also, war is a human invention. Wars happened a long time before guns were invented anyways, so saying that guns are bad because of wars is just a horrible reason.
We all have to remember that guns don't kill people, people kill people. Thus, guns really aren't the issue. People are the problem. Guns can be beneficial. Take competitive shooting, it teaches people discipline as well as responsibility. I've seen many youth change their attitudes just by learning a sport like shooting.
They're the weapon used to kill people, therefore, they're still the issue. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Don't get rid of guns. Make it hard as hell to abuse the system...Require permits and background checks for every type of firearm, as well as fairly long waiting periods.
Also, I think that permits should be shown for the firearm before buying ammo. Remember, guns don't kill people, bullets kill people. And if guns don't kill people, they sure as hell help.
They're fine, but it's a tool that puts holes in things. If your that dependent on such a tool, think about what it can do.
I just think that it should have a better background check when selling them. Anyone can get a gun in America, thats what caused the Columbine massacre, 2 kids and 1 man with mental illness got guns without checking.
It's no where near the first to be charged as such, honestly, it should be watched who gets ahold of these guns in the first thing.
I THINK GUNS ARE GOOD AND I HAVE ONE GOOD REASON TO SUPPORT THIS...IF WE WERE TO TAKE AWAY GUNS AND BURN THEM THROW THEM AWAY OR USE THE METAL TO BUILD OTHER THINGS, AND ANOTHER COUNTRY SUCH AS IRAQ(NOTHING AGAINST THEM JUST AN EXAMPLE)FOUND OUT ABOUT IT. WE COULD ACCUMULATE SOME VERY HEAVY DAMAGE TO OUR COUNTRY AND OUR PEOPLE.THIS IS UNLESS SOMEONE WANTS TO WRITE ABOUT THIS AND SAY "OH WHAT ABOUT CROSSBOWS AND KNIFES AND THAT STUFF" WELL HAVE 100 PEOPLE STAND IN A LINE HOLDING CROSSBOWS AND KNIFES AND HAVE ANOTHER LINE OF 100 PEOPLE HOLD GUNS A COUPLE HUNDRED YARDS AWAY, IF THEY WERE TO ATTACK EACH OTHER, ITS KIND OF OBVIOUS WHO WOULD WIN. LONG BUT EASY TO UNDERSTAND WHY GUNS ARE GOOD, FOR THE U.S. AT LEAST.
Calm down on the caps bud.
Don't worry, we have 20x more nukes than all countries combined, we can blow the world 80x over. No need for them at all...
Beyond that the topic is more to do with public weaponry and not military weaponry. If the public has a bunch of weapons and the military has a bunch of weapons, there are going to be a lot of attacks period.
You're right. We should take away guns. Waaaaay too deadly. In fact, why don't we take away knives, axes, and baseball bats?
But wait! without knives, we can't cut up our food to eat, and without our axes, we can't chop down trees to make fires in out fireplace or out in the woods. Without bats, we wouldn't get to watch baseball!
I don't know about you, but i think that guns should be kept legal, mainly because i like to play paintball and i don't want that ruined.
Plus, we need guns to be more efficient in hunting wild game and to start may kinds of races.
