My personal opinion is that guns are just fine. Guns help us provide security for our families if something ever happens, but I want to here your opinions.
Funny. The animal population needs to be controled. Just ask the farmers whose livelyhood is eaten by deer. The best way to curb this threat is by hunting, and while there are quite a few bow hunters, the easiest way to do this is by hunting with guns.
Hunting is a part of our country, back to the days when it was sometimes the only source of food some families would have. Hunting also teaches people about gun safety. Hunters are less likely to be in accidents concerning deadly weapons than those who don't know how to use them.
No1's threating to take your guns! I'm saying we shouldn't let people with criminal records or mental illness walk into a pawn shop to get a gun to shoot some1, and we don't need automatic weaponry either! What point does it serve other than killing?!?
It's already hare to buy firearms in most states. Trying to change that to make it even harder it stupid! You know, cars help kill people, does that make them bad too? Or what about knives? Anything can be used as a weapon... That's the point I'm trying to make! Heck, water kills people!
I think guns are good if they're used for the right purpose. We solve our problems through war, and to solve war, we use guns. If we use them improperly, it usually results in unecessary harm. We should take extra precautions to prevent crimes like this from happening.
the other day at Dicks sporting goods store i was shopping for a rifle (remington 700 sps varmint) when a middle aged man ran into the guns area and demanded to be sold a handgun. the guy was insane, and definitely on a mission to kill. the police were called and he was dealt with, and i went on with my shopping. as long as the nut jobs are denied firearms, and people like me, who just want to go to the range and squeeze off some rounds for honing skills, can get them, everything is alright.
Well, instead of just trying to remove the guns, why don't we focus on the bigger factor of murder: the wielder of the gun (the criminal). Murder rates would probably go down if people weren't purposely killing each other or compromising each others' security (why need self-defense if there is no attacker?), but then again this is a big issue to tackle, right? Even more effective education or some manipulation would not likely help the rates very much, so, any ideas?
Bull. Down in Texas, my dad walked into a sporting goods store, asked for a .22, and got it after a 10 minute phone call to the local sheriff's department.
And, ace, as far as rooting out the crazies goes, not everyone shows like that guy does. If someone has a serious mental illness, you can't just look at them and say that they're schizophrenic.
your right your right zootsuit, that was just an experience i had.
not everyone out to kill is a blatant psychopath, the virginia tech shootings might not have happened or might have been diverted if the shooter had been denied access to weapons, the kid had a history of mental disorders, prior to that massacre you didnt have to acknowledge history of mental illness or treatment on the forms to acquire a rifle or handgun, now you do. i think thats atleast a step in the right direction..
o noes i did a debate about this a year ago and can't remember most of it ]!
i kinda remember that in florida there has never been a registered gun used in crime...criminals always find ways to get guns illegally doesn't matter if they're outlawed....people with criminal records, mental records, and even juvie records aren't allowed to buy guns.
You have to fill out a form stating all of your information before receiving a gun.. I think it's illegal to own automatic and semi-automatic weaponry
Also, snakebite, if guns are already so hard to get a hold of, why are there still murders? Why are there still shootings? Obviously, the American government isn't doing its job to keep the people safe.
In fact, just the other day a felon, just released from prison several months ago, shot a park ranger who walked up to him to talk. Then, he went to someone's house, shot the person, and took his truck. Yes, this was a local incident. The man was shot down several hours later, but that isn't the point. The point is that despite having been convicted prior to this incident, and having shown signs of mental problems, this man still managed to obtain a firearm.
And you're trying to tell me that it's too hard to buy a gun.
heres the answer.. develop nanomachines like in metal gear solid 4... if the ID lock doesnt match up with the nanomachines unique to your body and authorization then you cant fire the weapon! there, problem solved, someone get on that.
