I remember this boy brought the bible to school for his reading book like when you finish a test or your work early you read, and the teacher told him to put it away. i don't know what it have to do about praying at school but i think it is the same concept.

Oh yea sorry for double posting, anyways i don't think that it's fair, you should be able to pray it's not like your telling somebody about it or forcing them to follow it, your doing it for your self.

Ya the problem is that teachers should not be biased. And should not impose their religious views on students. And by not letting them read certain books, or doing certain things but allowing others, they are pressuring kids to change their views and preventing them from doing what they want. I think Children should be able to pray, and do anything they want to religiously as long as it isn't hurt anyone else. For the teacher that told the kid to put a bible away in class, thats a story book like any other and she shouldn't be chosing what the kdis can and cant read.

I remember when I was in Elementary school, middle school and highschool I had teachers all the time, where I thought to myself "Wow, are you serious? You don't posses any ability to think logically?" And I seriously thought many times that I could be etaching the class, and that I could set better rules. Some teachers really shouldn't be teaching our kids.

I think the USA should pay teachers better, but make them go to college longer.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my school cracks down on those rules like there's no tomorrow. I'm actually afraid to just say "F that" in front of a teacher without getting a detention.

You should be. At my school, you might be suspended...

This is the reason why I want to go a Catholic high school <.<
I hate it when people look at me weird when I do a mini-grace before lunch. Ugh.

I too, like many others, go to a Christian school where I can pray and worship freely. It is wonderful, I can pray before my meals, and basically anytime I want. If you could I would suggest trying to find a Christian school, but I understand how money could be an issue.

If you stay in your school, you can do a number of things.

1. Take legal action. According to the rights our fore-fathers set down, we have the freedom of religon. This means that no one can tell you what you can and can't do in regards to your religon (although I consider Christianity a relationship with God).

2. Pray in your head. God does not need us to say prayers aloud, or even bow our heads, but these are a sign of respect. Only ignore these if it is not practical in the situation. (Ex. Driving, Running, etc.)

3. Pray that God will help you through this situation.

I highly recommend that you do all three of these things.

No, I am definitely looking into a Catholic high school in my area.

It's not a huge problem, but it's irritating because so many people in Washington state are atheists.

If you'd ever been to eastern Washington, you'd know that that that isn't the case.

That's what I was about to say...Pullman is probably the biggest concentrate of conservatives ever. You probably just live in the Seattle area, right?

Yup.

I haven't been to eastern Washington, either, so I wouldn't know.

I've only lived up here for... 5 or 6 years now.

yeah, I've been to Seattle once to visit my aunt & uncle, and I found it full of Liberal ninnies. I prefer Spokane better. Better fishing, too... =)

I've lived up here for a few years, but WSU/Pullman might as well be considered the conservative headquarters of Washington haha.

Any place west of Ellensburg tends to be pretty liberal, as far as I can tell.

Back to topic.

If this is possible, I have 2 words for you: Home School

It's a lot cheaper then 99% of private schools, and your mom or dad can run it however they want(almost).

That's what I was about to mention haha.

I'm all for prayer in schools, although I'm not the most religious person myself. Freedom of Religion in the bill of rights, and thus should be upheld. But, you can't force prayer on anyone, nor should prayer be stripped from someone's daily life unwillingly.
