I'm sure most people on this forum are atheists (i being one of them). I just wanted to say something about all religions which pretty much makes sure their poppycock! The point is, the race of the god. Jesus was white because he was thought up by a white person in tough times. Buddha was Indian because he was made by a prince who saw hardships in his country. The gods of Mayans were pretty much the only godly figures, instead of having races. I just think this is a big point on what pretty much proves that religion is a bunch of poppycock!
Well, road, they were those races because that's the area they were born! Jesus was from Jerusuelem, which consists of all whites. Likewise with the rest. So if the religion is to be true, there's a perfect expanation of the races.
Although there big different religions is a good argument
also, i'm not sure about this one, but I remember learning that Buddha was also a real person named Siddhartha Gautama who was believed to have achieved enlightenment.
Yep, all your "facts" turn out to be biased lies. By the way, Jesus was Jewish.
3 reasons why God probably exists: 1. The mark of an advancing society is generally considered to be some sort of religion or acknowledgment of a higher power. I'm talking in archaeological, historical terms. 2. There are certain things in science that are inexplicable - what TRIGGERED the big bang? Things of that nature. Adding a higher power to the equation solves these problems. 3. Humans are surprisingly complex and well-suited to everything. Evolution is to thank for this, but there are differences in the theories and the facts are filled in with holes. A higher power of some kind enables the theory to fit together perfectly. Why did this survive and this not? Why did this mutation occur? Things of that nature.
Also, Jesus would have had darker skin, not white skin, being from the Middle East, as would Mary. The images which depict them are not entirely acturate, since they are being shown as pure and holy.
Also, history says that Jesus existed. Also, the documents about Jesus (besides the Bible) were written around 50-100 years after he lived, however, documents about Julius Caesar were written over 100 years after, and yet people do not question them.
Finally, do not insult religion if you do not have a good point or reason to insult religion, don't bring it up. You are entitled to your beliefs, but do not insult others about theirs without some decency or strong facts.

Provided you believe that these questions are 'roblems'.
Humans are surprisingly complex and well-suited to everything.
I beg to differ with the latter half of that statement. More generally, this "well suited to everything" tends to be a misinterpretation of "adaptible". Furthermore it tends to imply that evolution is a "completed" process but evolution, by definition, is not something that can ever be "completed" unless circumstances were to come to a state of stasis, and since I recall you (i.e. Megamickel) are into thermodynamics, you should know that there is no such thing as a complete stasis.
As I've said before and have yet to find reason to revise: humans are at the stage where we are easily fooled into believing we see more than we really do, regardless of whether you choose to express this in criticism of arrogant science or zealous religious 'roofs'.
I honestly, am not a Christian, so I cannot really say things about it.
Jesus, sure, he may have existed, but doesn't mean 'God' is his REAL father.
If God really exists, he's pretty sick in the head, letting people get murdered, day in - day out and letting the World go through wars and whatnot, if he really "LOVED" all his Children, wouldn't he help?
I'm not Atheist, I'm actually Norse. I come from a big Family of Nordic Heritage.

Ah, the Templeton argument. It's a popular one but I think it actually sells God a bit short, because it also tends to go hand-in-hand with a "God makes the universe determinist" view which is also problematic.

Besides which it's usually made by people who don't believe in God anyways, so what's the point of the argument?
I concur with an earlier post: Buddha wasn't "made" really, because it was the actual prince who followed the path to enlightenment. And Buddha never claimed to be God, a god, worthy of worship, or anything like that. It's more a statement about those who came later than the Buddha himself.
Sounds like you need to define "white" because apparently some here think "White" is an ethnic group, thus being a "Jew" would make it impossible to be also "white." Perhaps a different understanding of race or ethnicity might make this a more sensible argument. Plus, keep in mind that the story of Jesus is one where the God-figure was exactly not what the people were expecting. God shows up as some guy who's quite killable, spouting all this nonsense about peace and love, calling the priests sinners and so forth. Jesus did very little that the people of the day were expecting, so it's a little hard to claim that he is merely a model of their own view of humanity. Plus, if you look around just a little bit at art, you will find many paintings of Jesus looking quite non-white. Just because the Europeans painted him as themselves doesn't mean everyone else doesn't as well. So your argument is going to need a little revision there too.
Arguments in favor of God are generally made by people who believe in God. So...
Allow me to clarify. The argument that God does not exist because of all the evil in the world is usually made by people who already believe there is no God, and often not for reasons having to do with evil in the world but other ones. So arguing that God must be demented to let people kill one another is kind of pointless, because the people who would argue that generally don't think there is God or a god anyhow.
I think every one needs to think outside the box....way way outside the box. If god does exist and he does things that you may think are sick, he is obviously doing it for a reason, what if the people he is killing aren't really people. They could be just things that he created to test those of us that are really here. You know, we could have the world so so so wrong. We think that all of this stuff going on, everyday life is the way we see it, but there is an infinite amount of ways that we could be being BSed in right now. God, other beings, etc.

Re-reading this post, I realized that none of you are really atheists. You believe in a god, and he has sent you a messiah. The name of this messiah is Barack Obama. Your prophet is the Oprah Winfrey. Your "Noah"(thanks for the name, Oprah) is Al Gore, here to save you from the plight of "global warming". And the name of your new religion is:
Believe what you want its a democracy...I am sceptical about God...
Theres no real proof that he is real.Certainly not in this day and age..
But theres no real proof to say he isn't.
Plus evolution and that makes some of the ld bible stroies sound like they were made up...It coulda been all just one big lie. Oh and its kinda strange that all the people that Jesus taught to are mostly jewish...Yet we European/american are mostly christian communities.
Strange how it got all the way over to here and we believe it yet the people he directly taught in his own country dont believe he was a messiah
