I saw yet another video of a group of protestors burning the American flag. The disgust me! Please tell me someone else out here agrees that it is wrong and should be illegal.

^^ ignore the spam.

But really, the flag stands for america, but due to the first amendment, as long as burning the flag doesn't affect other people's freedoms, it is protected by the constitution.

Why would you want to be in this country if you hate it so much you want to burn the flag? It should be illegal, because I don't want these f.ucking anti-americans citizens having the right just because they have the nerve.

Because when you disagree with one single part of the conglomerate of issues that is the United States, you definitely hate the whole country. Yup.

the flag symbolically represents the United States and the freedom that millions of people have died to protect it just makes me physically ill to see it desecrated by an American citizen

i personally feel there are better ways to express yourself than burning the flag

But WHY burn the flag if you don't hate this country?

In order to exercise your first amendment rights.

No purpose is served, though. That's just plain stupid. Everybody knows we have the right to burn the flag, no need to prove it. I don't worship the flag, but it's a symbol of this country, and I have respect enough for this country to not try and prove that I can get away with burning our flag. It's just disrespecting the country for no apparent reason.

It is really, basically a respect issue. So the question is do you respect America?

DDX: Yeah, you're right. Maybe "hate" was a strong word, but I still think we should have respect for this country if we live here. I mean, I disagree with a great number of issues in the country, but I haven't lost an ounce of respect for it (just a few people who were in power, but never the country). We, the people always have the ability to change the country, and that's why I love it.

@BigP08

I suppose we differ on that opinion. You think burning the flag is disrespecting the country; I think burning the flag can be a means of paying respect to the country.

You said:

Those critical words "We the people" should be quite familiar. That's why the people will always have the right to burn the flag & it will never be made illegal while the U.S.A. remains a free democracy.

I understand the having the right to burn our flag makes us a democracy, but why would burning the flag be respect for the country? Why would anyone want to burn the flag to pay respect to the country? That doesn't really make sense. Please, elaborate.

How can burning the flag be respect for the country? Maybe having the ability to burn our flag is something to be proud of, but why would anyone want to burn a flag that symbolizes life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Please explain what you mean by respect.

Sorry, didn't realize I wrote two responses. My page refreshed by accident & it didn't show the first one, so I rewrote it. Anyway, use either one when you respond, I'll get back to it later.

Are you crazy, men and women have gave their lives to protect this country and you think burning the United States flag is a way of paying respect.

The United States flag isn't just a piece of fabric itself, it's a country of millions of people. This flag has brought hope to soldiers on the battle field since this country called it's independence. To me burning the United States flag is anti-american. It's disgusting and disturbing at the same time.
