I saw yet another video of a group of protestors burning the American flag. The disgust me! Please tell me someone else out here agrees that it is wrong and should be illegal.

woa bigP thats a triple post! you almost win, but recently I just saw a quadruple post lol

I lost.
He means it is a symbol of respect to America.

I'm still confused. You mean the actual burning of the flag is respect? Because I'd have to disagree. If you mean having the right to burn it, then yeah, the right is to do that is respectful, in its own way.

no I mean that the flag is a symbol for America >.<

By burning the flag you are in a way disrespecting America because the flag symbolizes America.

You just have the right to burn the flag, but to some people when you burn it you are disrespecting America. (does that make sense?).

Oh, sorry, I thought you were saying burning the flag was a symbol. In that case, yes I agree.

I think that if you burn the flag then you are doing an extreme act of anarchy. By burning the American flag you're rejecting everything America stands for.

Oh yes, for someone up there that said someone was crazy for saying burning the flag was a sign of respect, it actually is. That is the proper way to dispose of a flag, after cutting the stars separate from the stripes.

People can protest against whatever they want. What about those douche bags that came from America to Australia and abused us about the fires being our fault because we're too accepting of gays. Or how in America they did the same thing to soliders who died in Iraq at their funerals. If people like that have freedom of speech and can do that I think flag burning is the least of our problems. Also, it can always be for different things. It's not always against the nation. Example was that a band I like called Frenzal Rhomb burned the aussie flag. And they said that the flag represents John Howard and what he was turning Australia into. So it's not always about hating your country.

I dont understand why people care so much about the flag, I mean its just a flag. I mean arent we supposed to not 'worship' objects like statues or stuff (wasnt that in the bible). While anyway wouldnt that be funny if we all go to hell because we think the flag is so important.

Did that really happen, people protest at a soldiers funeral? Who the fuck would do that?!

Yeah, their main "thing" is gays being evil so because America are tolerant of gays and soldiers fight to defend the country they are therefore fighting to defend gay rights. In their eyes anyway, it's fucked up and if it as up to me people like that would lose their ability to voice any opinion LONG before illegalising flag burning came along.

I think it should be made illegal, why burn our flag in our country if you don't like it get the fuck out.

A great quote one of my teachers said when we discussed this issue in economics. "Yeah you have the right to burn our flag, but we have the right to kick your ass."

People have the right to own ridiculous amounts of gun and so they do purely because it's "Their right." Think about how many people die due to people excercising that right. Now think about how many people die from flag burning. Like I said before, it's a waste of time to bother limiting freedom of speech for something as simple as that.

While you do make a point, owning a gun is the right to protect the individual. Burning a flag is the right to accomplish absolutely nothing other than a waste of a flag, a fire, and time. Maybe it's also a waste of time to try to make this illegal, but still, even wanting to burn the flag is a little bit weird, wouldn't you say?

I think burning the flag is the same as having a peaceful protest outside of the capital. I would never burn our flag, but I would also never tell people that expressing their opinion is illegal. Even though I think there are plenty of other ways of showing you hate our country like, for example, leaving, I wouldn't make it illegal because that just makes us look kind of hypocrytical as a country. If we say that a person has a right to protest, then as long as they do no harm they should be able to do so.
