I saw yet another video of a group of protestors burning the American flag. The disgust me! Please tell me someone else out here agrees that it is wrong and should be illegal.

It can make a lot of money if you sell flags to people that enjoy burning them.

Somers flag burning inc...That could work

No, burning the flag is a constitutionally protected right in the U.S.A.

Im sure they found a way to poke it in their some where...why would you burn your own countrys flag? their not americans...

I am perfectly OK with allowing people to burn the US flag as a form of Freedom of speech.... Just as long as they allow me to Shoot them as my freedom of speech.

You mean your gun's freedom of speech. Good plan.
@Donpiet:
Talo was being sarcastic.

Burning the flag is consitutionally allowed, but I don't understand why someone would want to do it. If they're looking for attention, there are better ways. If they are protesting, signs with the flag crossed out would be a bit better. If the flag is old and they want to get rid of it, they shoudln't make it public. If someone has a compulsive need to burn things publicly... try a different flag. I think I've covered most of the scenarios.

Maybe if you didn't have freedom of speech all of this trouble would be resolved!

It all depends on what degree of free speech you let the people have. Can they use terror to voice their opinions? Can they burn flags? Should we allow them to assemble in front of a building to protest? Should we allow free speech on the Internet? I think just getting rid of free speech over simplifies it. But if you want the truest form of free speech, anarchy would be right for you since there is no authority telling you you can not express your self by killing someone for example.

Burning of the American [or any country] flag shows lack of that person having respect for the nation in which that flag represents. When North Korea, Iran, ect., burn our flag its to show us thier total disreguard of what we stand for. And yes we have burnt nations flags and raised our own.

no. it's lack of respect of the leadership, and/or policies.

i burned the flag during Bush presidency, when showing my lack of respect for the policies/presidency/etc.

I see as lack of respect for the nation as well though, if you have a lack of respect for the leadership then you should just burn a pic or something of that person.

Which basically is the nation, therefore disrespect for the nation intended.

So? He bought that flag and burned it. It's his property. So what if he chooses to burn it? He may burn it because it's freedom of speech. Exactly what America has fought for.

I mean honestly if you are going to target the flag burning and that maybe it should be banned why not target far more serious matters like Nazi marches. It's freedom of speech and it's in your constitution. Believe me you don't want to become like Germany or Austria. They have strict laws on freedom of speech.

I never said it wasn't freedom of speech or it wasn't an American right, did I? No I didn't, I checked. Let me check again, nope didn't say it. Hold on..... nope didn't say it.

It is intended disrespect for the nation, which is all I said.

It doesn't have to be. It can show how Bush is destroying the country and that by burning the flag you are showing the effect of Bush on the country.

Of course you can't be sure. Doesn't have to be disrespect to a nation, can just show disagreement with certain things. Flag burning is a strong act that shows just how serious you are. Very few other ways are to make people wake up.

Burning the flag doesn't accomplish anything in my opinion, it just makes people think you're either a terrorist or very un-patriotic.

Most people will never look any deeper than that, the only people you will sway is people who already agreed with you. If they don't agree with you you won't sway them, and most like most people will, like I said think you're a terrorist or commie because people are not that intelligent and post 9/11 paranoia is still real for some reason.
