I saw yet another video of a group of protestors burning the American flag. The disgust me! Please tell me someone else out here agrees that it is wrong and should be illegal.

Well, an American flag is a piece of cloth to some is a symbol of freedom to others

To me the flag is freedom from oppresion and tyrany but I can see why others would see it as the opposite.

People can do what ever they want, even if others don't approve of it. Well, as long as it's legal. That's what nobody realizes.

I'm guessing you meant can't?

oops, yep

I know its too easy to generalise but sometimes its the most effective way of getting a point across. What I dislike is when someone jumps on that as a counter argument which far too many people do. Its one reason why I post on this site, as most people debate... notice the most lol

No, it means you aren't happy with how the country is run or you don't like something it has done. It doesn't have to mean you hate everybody in that country.

burning a country flag means you hate that country and if you have a chance, you will pwn them all.

???

I never thought of it that way before. I always assumed that it was due to propoganda and circumstance i.e. americans coming into a country and bombing it, driving vehicles thru their city that could crush a building and fighting with the local nutters whom most average people never had anything to do with in the first place but whos son still manages to catch a stray bullet in the throat. Thats what I thought made people burn a flag like, say, the american flag.

You americans are not alone...

But americans get very patriotic about the cloth with some made up pattern that merely show's what part of earth they call home.

I know I do. For me it is everything I stand for and that is America land of the free. I do however sympathise with people who do burn it it's not like they don't have a reason to hate America. If someone in America burns my flag then that's a different story. Funny how they burn the flag that represents the freedom that allows you to burn the flag.

I have to say... the flag represents nothing exept a land, and the land doesnt represent freedom. Iv come to realise there IS no land of the free, least of all america.

Wrong it represents different things for different people not just a land. And by the Way when I say land of the free I mean most of all America. To say America isn't is to disregard all logic.

No - A flag is a symbol for a country. We use flags to represent countries.

Also, America is definitely not 'Land Of The Free' - if it was then homosexuals would be free to marry in every state, women would be free to choose abortions if they wanted them and your average Muslim would be able to walk the streets unafraid and unmolested by people who wished he didn't have any freedom at all.

Sure but we are a country where people have the option to both change peoples minds and the government.

That sounds ideal - however, in reality, it comes off more as "We don't like change, it's always been done like this and you can't change it - We'll scream if you do". You deny people liberties and rights - for no real reason at all.

there are reasons, they arent really good reasons. but atleast we have reasons. again though, the flag is a symbol, to real americans who love this country, just because it has gone way off the track, and isnt what it used to be, doesnt mean we just give up and stop caring.
