In some countrys i have heard that they have forbidden people to smoke in restaurants, coffe shops and other places.

My opinion is that is a good thing.
Non smokers or other people dont need to put up with smokers smoke.

I have seen people that smoke not respecting others in public places

I mean imagine that you were a non smoker, you had a smoker tossing his smoke to you.

Of course that you wouldnt like that.

Tell me what you think about this new law here.

Have a nice day.

They have this here in the UK. I would say that on the whole it's a good thing as pubs and clubs are no longer full of second hand smoke but there are disadvantages too. For musicians playing at smaller venues half the crowd leaves to have a smoke ruins the atmosphere . But again on the whole its a good thing.

I think that here (Denmark), there is something weird about the rule. Only small pubs are allowed to have smokers there, would that not make it even harder to live, as the smoke stores up better in small places?
I do not really like the law as it is now. Sure, people disrespecting other people are annoying, but still most actually sit outside and smoke, or go somewhere else when smoking in publicity. I am not a smoker myself, but my father have been smoking for all his life, and I know he respect other people.
It is a law pointed at a minority, and laws should not be that.

Why? Smoking in some countries is very high. Here in the UK 22% of people smoke and in some countries like Greece its even higher at 33%. A large enough group of people to affect others with second hand smoke.
In any case why should laws not be pointed at a minority? Most laws that are created are eg the majority of the population afre not criminals and yet hundreds of criminal laws are passed each year.

Sigh... Just because people do not have any ethics...

In Denmark a firm was hiring smokers only, because they did not want to loose their way of living. Still, they were forced to follow the rules, though there was noone to get the second hand smoke.

I am not saying some people cannot be some jerks and think nothing of other people, but most can, and will not smoke inside a restuarant, nor will they, if asked to go outside, be angry. But I guess that might just be here.

Its illegal to smoke in a public place, but only if the place allows people younger than 18 (the legal smoking age here) inside. Bars and clubs that are 18+ only have the option of allowing smoking, and I think that is a reasonable compromise. I'm for it, but for a purely selfish reason; more seating available in restaurants that is smoke free. Otherwise I couldn't care less.

Its not a law pointed at a minority. It is a law pointed at an act that causes damage to others. Smoking in public infringes on the right of others around you to be in a space that is free of a harmful carcinogen. That's the justification at least.

So waiting outside for ten minutes until the smoke has disappeared is okay? Just forget about the law thing, I cannot explain it in they way I wanted it, and people are misunderstanding.
It just annoys me how the government here have desided that the people smoking shall be more ill, becuse they are locked up in tiny pubs, because those are the only places they can smoke and have a beer at the same time, like they used to.

Well, as certain individuals in my industry say, "The solution to pollution is dillution." If you're smoking outside the natural air currents theoretically dilute the smoke to a level that has a minimum impact on people around you.

I see your point. Its a difficult situation all around, but... what if before your favorite little restaurant also happened to be the favored place to have a couple of pints with your cigarettes? Now you can eat your (insert regional food here) without the smoke, but the smokers can still relocate to a different location for their alcohol and cigs. I think its a decent compromise.

Of course, I also don't smoke.

Me neither, but my fatherdoes, and because of that I see no problem with smoking.
Many other things are just as dangerous, if not more... Oh well, nothing much to do about it.

Oh, random knowledge: You will get cancer if you eat two kilos of potatoes every day for 30 years.
Living is the most dangerous thing you can do, because no matter how you do it, you end up dead...

I can understand the ban in restaurants... but bars? Really? I am willingly destroying my liver, yet politicians say I can't destroy my lungs, unless I go out in the freezing cold... which I'm going to do anyways. Thanks so much for saving me!

i'm italian, and i smoke about 15 cigarettes a day, and i agree with this. there are lots of people who don't like/are irritated from smoke, and i think smokers should not smoke in public places, for respect of them.

Well, outside and in their homes are pretty much the only places they are allowed to smoke, so chill, huh?
Here, nurses have to go acroos the road to smoke, and somewhere they are not even allowed to smoke when closer than 1,5 kilometer from the hospital.

smoking in public places is like taking a doo-doo but no ones allergic to doo-doo or else they would be dead.
