In some countrys i have heard that they have forbidden people to smoke in restaurants, coffe shops and other places.

My opinion is that is a good thing.
Non smokers or other people dont need to put up with smokers smoke.

I have seen people that smoke not respecting others in public places

I mean imagine that you were a non smoker, you had a smoker tossing his smoke to you.

Of course that you wouldnt like that.

Tell me what you think about this new law here.

Have a nice day.

It's a bad thing as it's taking away their rights, and that's a slippery slope. It's a form of public approved discrimination. But if their banning this, how about people driving with cell phones.

So it should be a right to knowingly affect someone else's health in a negative manner? Secondhand smoke is not only unpleasant, but can be very harmful for people with breathing conditions. If you ask me, people should not have the right to put other peoples health in danger.

And banning driving with cell phones is happening in places. In California it is illegal to talk on the phone while driving, it all has to be hand free. Because again, through irresponsible actions someone is compromising other peoples safety.

It is the same in Great Britain where we also have the smoking ban and i would say on the whole the effects have been positive.

I have breathing problems.
And I suffer from secondhand smoke.
I suffer from these two problems during these past 4 years.
I hope I do not get any cancers.

I think it's a great thing, better air quality for the majority, i know that it's made a lot of people quit smoking, and well now we don't have to smell it every where.

it's a good thing considering how second hand smoking can kill you.

I being from New Jersey am glad that people can't smoke in public places anymore. It's a disgusting habit. And also secondhand smoke kills more people per year then many other things like accidents. I know someone who got lung cancer without ever smoking because he worked in the casinos and everyone smoked in there. "Air is free why make us pay?" I'm glad that people can't smoke in public anymore.

Banning people from smoking all together would be a violation of our right as for public areas, it makes perfect sense there are people that are deathly allergic to cigarette smoke. such as my step dad. and having a cleaner environment of public areas allows these people to finally have freedom to go wherever they want without worrying about having an asthma attack

I think smoking altogether should be banned. It's an awful thing and it's killing hundreds every day. If people want to commit suicide, they should find a way that doesn't kill others...

stopping people from smoking around people who do not want to be smoked around is important, But to ban it all together is just stupid. I will admit i smoke, and yes it is bad for me. But i do not care because it is my life and i make that choice, i enjoy it because it makes me feel good, it relieves stress and i feel that i am more likely to die in a car accident than from cigarettes. i don't plan on my life being very long anyways, I like to live every day as if it is my l. But when i am around none smokers i am courteous of their health. and there is no reason to take away the freedoms of people because it can harm their health. cellphones, microwaves, televisions basically all electronics give people cancer, not to the extent of cigarettes of coarse. But should they be banned for that reason?

Yes, I think they should. Cigarettes kill more people than guns, and killing people with guns is illegal. And yet, killing with cigarettes is not?

but your not harming other? your harming yourself. when second hand smoke is a problem it is different. But car accidents kill people too we should ban cars. and while we are at it mcdonalds and all other fast food joints.

i think cigarettes should be banned. I mean it's illegal to smoke marijuana or cocaine yet it isn't to smoke ciggarets. I understand that people would like to smoke because it's addicting but still, first it still affects others, it's a waste of money( $4.95 times how many packs you smoke per day multiplied by 365 can cost you more then $2000 dollars per year) and plus it kills more people per year then guns and accidents. The only reason the government allows it to remain legal is because it's such a big money maker. These tobacco companies are murderers because they put price tags on human lives.
