In some countrys i have heard that they have forbidden people to smoke in restaurants, coffe shops and other places.

My opinion is that is a good thing.
Non smokers or other people dont need to put up with smokers smoke.

I have seen people that smoke not respecting others in public places

I mean imagine that you were a non smoker, you had a smoker tossing his smoke to you.

Of course that you wouldnt like that.

Tell me what you think about this new law here.

Have a nice day.

I recently quit smoking but every time someone complains to me about smokers, people who smoke in certain places, or I see an anti-smoking ad it makes want to start smoking again and blow it in there face. Most people blow "being around a smoker" way out of proportion.

Don't get me wrong I was for the no smoking bans in bars, pubs, restaurants etc. even when I was smoking. I also supported the banning of smoking in cars where children are. Unless of course you run a smoking establishment. Then you should be free to do want you want. A private club 18+ should be free to let in smokers only.

It's a personal choice and contrary to what some people may think it's not just the smokers responsibility to move away from the non smokers and nobody can catch cancer from being on the far side of the room from a smoker. So in a way it does undermine a certain groups personal freedom. As well as the personal freedom of business and club owners. Oppress the minority to make the majority feel fuzzy and protected. It's a bit of a double edge sword I suppose.

Arguably the fisrt responsibility of a government is to protect it's citizens, be it from foreign invasion or from lung cancer. Despite the fact it may feel like it is an oppressive policy as a smoker, the government wants to be seen to be doing the right thing. I would say as a non smoker the ban was a good thing. It is nice to finally be able to go to a pub and not be shrouded in mist. A couple of my friends actually quit smoking as a result as they only smoked socially in pubs and clubs so i guess that is a good thing. It is good to hear a smokers point of view on this though.

I think the smoking bans are an excellent thing. my brother a few friend and myself, have a very hard time being able to breathe as it is. Smoking just makes it worse.

Totally, not only do smoking is bad for your health but it's even worse for the health of the people who breath the smoke of cigarettes. One cigarette is worth one and a half for the people who breath second hand smoke,it's even worse so you would like to make endure that to your friends and kids, knowing totally smoking is bad and they are good enough to refrain from doing it?Smoking should be banned and illegal even outside:drugs are illegal,so then why isn't cigarette if it's even worst for health?

i don't smoke(underage) but,it's a little too much to ask from smokers too refrain from smoking in all these places and i do see the need for implementing this rule but..shouldn't there be some "smokers only" places?

like a pub for smokers?

you could always move yourself to another location if you do not like the smoke going to your faces, shirts and all.

but at the same time...you don't have to...smokers should take the initiative. But they don't really care.

this rule is a double edged sword,as this will affect the trade of cigarette

The definition of a freedom is any action that does not impair or prevent another individual from compleeting an action or freedom of there choosing. If a person doesnt want to smoke, they shouldnt have to. If a person wishes to eat at a restraunt without inhaling second hand smoke they should have the right. With this in mind a person could easily step outside to smoke, but if the restraunt is filled with smoke the other person cannot eat outside.

I think this a is a great idea, nobody likes a smoker smoking in front of them in a public place when they want to eat, or have fun, etc, and the disgusting taste of smoke comes in your mouth and nose and stings. I feel bad for the people who cant stop smoking because of the nicotene addiction, but they should have thought of that before that this could kill me, i could annoy people with it, i will throw so many cigarette but's on the ground that i could fill the sears tower with them, and people will not like to be around me anymore. And that pretty much happened. I personally think that there should be no smoking at all, for its only bad things that happen to you.

Smoking is Phail. Smoking got around because people liked the coolish effects and the fact that it looked awesome.

In truth, it hurts you, and by the time we knew that the world was smokin' away, and kids do it because.... We'll they're pretty much stupid, Idk why you would do it.

Anyway, Its a great thing, killing tobaco is great. Nobody likes Smoking it hurts you, its a waste of time, and tbh I wouldnt' like to have a friend thats a smoker. It just messes things up, and anyway, if I was in a resteraunt that allowed smoking everywhere, I'd be out in the first 2 Minutes and never come back.

I'm not even old enough 2 smoke, anyway, whoever inventedsmoking sucks. So do you smokers!

Smoking goes back to our ancient ancestors.

Oh, and if I may add, nice generalization. Not all smokers 'suck,' and not all non-smokers 'don't suck.'

If you're going to post something risky like that at least back your opinion up with proof and don't make vague assumptions.

1) Sorry for the double-post.
2) Sorry if this posts drags the discussion to drugs, but this post made me want to clarify the dangers of drugs, and then you can compare those to smoking.

:drugs are illegal,so then why isn't cigarette if it's even worst for health?

Do you have any idea what drugs do to you?

Here's a list of the most common drugs used and their dangers:-

Heroin â" Heroin was created to cure morphine addiction, it typically creates a pleasant feeling in the gut. Brain cells become addicted to heroin from first use, to the point where the body needs it to function. It starts out with a pleasant feeling but concludes with hours of a feeling of anxiety, caused by the feeling of wanting more heroin.

Cocaine â" Cocaine is obtained from the coca plant, it acts as an appetite suppressant. It also stimulates the nervous system to create a feeling of euphoria (a feeling of happiness and increased energy.) Cocaineâs effects range from restlessness to increased blood pressure, discomfort and depression. Cocaine causes impotence. Cocaine is extremely addictive and ruins oneâs social life, making them less interested in spending time with family and friends. It makes them feel less active and therefore unable to compete in sports or excel in school.

Methamphetamine â" Meth for short, it is an addictive drug that is often abused, consumers begin performing rather obsessive tasks such as hand-washing and cleaning, cyclically. It also causes depression, anxiety, and excessive sleeping. It is a brain stimulant.

LSD â" Used mainly as a recreational drug, there are not many accounts of people who have used this drug. Although one consumer says âEveryone had tentacles smothering their faces and dangling down their necks like fleshy snake beards, even the women and children were not exempt from this disfiguration. In retrospect, it was the worst day of my entire life, It was the closest I can imagine to having full blown psychosis.â LSD causes hallucinations and depression. LSD causes paranoia, anxiety and panic attacks. Consumers cannot tell the difference of distance or time.

Marijuana â" Marijuana is obtained from the cannabis sativa plant. This drug has been used throughout history, but in the 20th century, there was a rise in its use. It is used for recreation, religious ideas, spiritual ideas, and medicinal purposes. Marijuana is extremely dangerous for the memory and can completely diminish the ability to maintain a long term memory.

Psilocybin Mushrooms â" Shrooms for short, Psilocybin Mushrooms produce a hallucination effect that typically lasts for 4 hours, and visions are often experienced when under the influence of this drug. The effects are sometimes pleasant, and at other times they are horrifying. Sometimes the drug does not take effect.

Yeah... second hand smoking is pretty bad, so I can see why it should be prohibited in public places. One person smoking shouldn't ruin it for everybody.

@ Skyla.

All of those drugs were created for some sort of legitimate purpose. LSD was actually created for the military. Anyways my point is that when smoking first started no one had any idea about its dangers as no one knew anything whatsoever about cancer. It is only in recent years that it has become considered 'bad for you'. The only reason smoking is still leagal is that it has been around for hundreds of years and so has entrenchhed itself into our economies and our societies. If it had never been discovered until recently and had not had the time to become fashionable as it were i gaurantee you it would be a class A drug.
