I came home all the way from bloody Yorkshire and was looking forward to playing a lovely bit of GH4. I turn it on and lo and behold the 3 red rings appear. I try all the advice they give u on xbox 360 website but i am convinced it is a hardware problem and will probably have to send it off.
It is this type of thing that makes me want to go out and buy a PS3 *blasphemy*
As much as I like the xbox belive it is despicable that Microsoft allowed the 360 to be released without fixing such a serious fault in the machine. What do you think?
yah i kno it suks. it has happened to me twice now. its working perfectly now but it suked. the one good thing, they give u a free month of live for the "inconveinance" (i cant spell shut up)
the red ring of death is a problem for a lot of people and for those who dont know it is caused by overuse of the Xbox
THE CAUSE: the cause of this is when you play to much the xbox overheats now most came sytems have a fan inside to cool this down but as the xbox gets hotter the fan has to work harder if the fan works to hard it breaks which causes the red ring of death the red ring is there because the console thinks its on stand by or sumthin so shows the lights
THE SYMPTOMS: you can know you have the red ring starting if you hear a loud whirring noise every 5-10 mins or if the game keeps jumping/freezing etc. (this is not neceaseraly the xbox it may be the game itself so dont get to worried) remotes dont work occasionaly (may be batteries if wireless)
THE SOLUTIONS: the ways to stop this are simple play game for up to hour or hour and half and let rest for 10-20 mins or have a secondary fan installed (costs a lot) feel your xbox to check if it hot or not if its to hot it should hurt you hand a bit
yeah its just because you played the xbox for to long and the installed fan couldn't blow enough hot air out of the casing so the solder on the wires start to melt. it happened to me and i could hear the broken off solder rolling around inside all i did was go onto xbox.com and sent them a message they sent me a box and i sent my xbox away they sent me a refurbished one but still it's better than no xbox
Yes i read the advice on the 360 website too, but it isn't due to overheating. I hadn't played for a month when the red rings showed so it is probably hardware.
wow thats hillarious... poor design if u ask me. the makers of the ps3 got it right. U can keep that on for days, as its like a computer. FOr sum reason microsoft made it overheat to easily, and therefore making it pretty much not worthwhile. Which is why i dont want one. You buy them to play games, not to take a 10 minute break every 30 minutes.. like wtf. Anyways a hint to u with the death ring and dont wanna wait a month for it to rreturn (cpl of friends told me about this). Keep trying to turn on the xbox. It will work 1 time during this process. If u shut off again it wont, so u gotta keep it on. Wat they did was put a blanket over it and just melt everything together lol.. then after that meraculously it worked. 2 of them did it, but im not sure if it works everywhere. I just know for them it helped.
Youre right, the ps3 is just plagued by crappy games. Back in the glory days of the ps2, i had to send mine in more than once to get it fixed. Every system goes through its problems and its not like microsoft is ignoring it. Hell, theyll fix it for free within like 5 years of the purchase date. When my first 360 had the red rings, it took less than two weeks to ship out and get back. If you cant live without gaming for two weeks, youre a loser.
@ devilofchoice.. ya definately crappy games... u know COD WAW, lil big planet, farcry 2, bioshock, OJ box, Fallout 3, devil may cry 4, MGS4, mirrors edge, Prince of Persia, NHL 09, Rock Band 2, should i go on??? thats the only lame excuse every xbox fan uses these days... Its the ONLY excuse they use to say that their system is superior... K then which has btr graphics? PS3, it has 1080i graphic quality allowing the characters in the game almost look as if they were people. Which has btr life? PS3 again. It has just been said that Xbox has to get returned when playing to long with it, which is an example of why ps3 has btr life. I am ale to keep mine on for days with out it failing on me. Where as all my friends who have the xbox 360 have had to return it at least once every year. hmmm doesn't show a good track record really. This is not even mentioning the free online play for the ps3, the added blu ray player that the ps3 has, and the ability to browse through the internet, get trophies, create chat rooms, and download actual games through the playstation internet... I gotta say the only system at the moment that is getting plagues with crappy games is the wii... Saying the ps3 has horrible games, is saying that xbox has horrible games as most games are made for both systems... The only actual good game only made for xbox atm is the GOW series....
