Kind of like how he was elected for his color and not his ideas.

You can argue that, but a majority of the people who voted for him were white.

Well, that is the right decision but it is also the wrong one. Because i am sure there are a few innocent people there, and the others are terrorists.

So what do you do? Set free some terrorists so you can free some innocents, or bar up some innocent so you can bar up some terrorists?

Personally, i would go with choice 2 and keep the Gitmo prison.

Well, the solution is just call all the terrorists POW's and call Gitmo a POW camp. Controversy over.

no, I had it right. Obama is a populist. He derives his power from his popularity. These types of people will do whatever it takes to appease the people, even if it means making bad decisions.

The best presidents were horribly unpopular during their presidency. Lincoln never got elected by a majority of the popular vote. The media tried to turn the public against Reagan. Jackson was so hated by some that the first third party in US history was called the Anti-Jacksonian Party.

Wait, guys, shouldn't conservatories be for closing Gitmo Bay?

Set free some terrorists so you can free some innocents,
Yes. That is the point of America. Not to imprison and torture innocents so we can get more bad guys. We let a few criminals go so that we can protect the innocents. Without these ideals, we are no better then Japan.

Another reason:

Those terrorists are probably guilty of war crimes. They were fighting without uniforms and they placed military installations inside civilian facilities, just to name a few.

These terrorists have ripped the Geneva convention into shreds and crapped on it.

If the ends are just, are the means not still evil? The problem with GB is that innocent people can be detained there indefenitly for no reason and with no trial. By going so far to defend America, we are no longer defending America, but rather a totalitarian superpower. Conservatives should defend freedom, not torture.

Basically, although, i think the Geneva convention is stupid, it shows how dumb mankind is.

First of all, you can not put rules on war.

Second of all, if we can agree not to use certain weapons, why can't we agree not to have war at all?

Well, because people will still attack anyways.

Same with the weapons, people still use those illegal weapons anyways >.>
