I got to page 17, and then I just couldn't stand reading anymore... My eyes hurt to much.

My beliefs?? IDK, I'm still trying to figure them out. I know I believe in our Lord but I also believe in the Mother Goddess, and I believe one of her forms is Mary. I've read the Bible and tried my best to understand it, but I'm not that good at it. I know I believe, and I hope that I believe enough to be saved. I'm technically a Roman Catholic, though I'm allowed to change religions when I turn 18. I believe that the Rapture will happen at some point.

Feel free to ask me any questions. I love discussing religion Weird hobby for a teenager to have though... Xp

No, it's my own personal belief. Although I believe she can appear as Mary, Jesus' mother. So that ties her in to Christianity.

She didn't do anything except bear Jesus and Raise him.

Isn't that kind of a big deal? Can you imagine the response an "unexpected pregnancy" would get nowadays? God even gave her a choice, and she said she would bear him. Pretty brave, especially since a pregnancy outside marriage back then would indicate that you were a slut. She was willing to take that rep. Enough said, I think.

I agree. She gave birth to the Son of God and risked her life, she could have been stoned! 'Nuff said Xp

I don't think it's going to be any one Christian group, you know? Not just the Jehovah's Witness, like they say, but any dedicated Christian. I consider a dedicated Christian one who pray's and studies the Bible. I don't believe you have to go to church even though thats what the Catholics teach.

Yes, I agree with the accepting Jesus into your heart bit, but IDK about the baptized part, I think thats just a nice added bonus, if you find a church you like, and want to be baptized, be my guest

As a Catholic I think you should, but certainly if you are religiously involved outside of church, God wouldn't turn you away.

Well I'm technically a Catholic even though I don't go to church much. I've done all the Sacraments and everything but I don't really like the whole structure, you know?? Anyway, thats off topic...

Like I said earlier, its not just one religious group. Any Christian who truly believes will be raptured.

I haven't looked at this thread in awhile, but has it not been brought up that the concept of a rapture wasn't created until maybe the 1800's? This seems to me to be a clear example of manipulation by religious leaders after the Second Great Awakening in America. I'm not even sure people in countries outside the Western hemisphere even accept such a tenet. Is this seriously a widely held belief among Christians?

The idea wasn't interpreted until that time, doesn't make it any less true. Just as one might study atoms and find new evidence, reading through the Bible and finding interpretations adds more to Christianity.

That response seems fair enough and I'm inclined to accept it. But I'm curious now - which passages refer to such an event? I mean, there's the second coming which seems to be pretty clearly revealed in the book of Revelation, but isn't the rapture supposed to take place before the second coming? Jesus certainly never mentioned something like that, and this passage must be pretty disguised for it to not be discovered until so late.
Now that I'm thinking about it, what makes certain interpretations of passages valid? It is easy to interpret Jesus as saying that he is a son of god rather than the son of god, so why is this interpretation not accepted? What if the church officially recognized some interpretation that seemed anathema to Christians as a whole? Who is right in such a situation?
