The "rapture" is nowhere in the Bible. The end of the world, the final battle between good and evil, is called Armageddon. God promised Noah that He would never destroy the earth through water again. He also stated that in His second coming, He will come with fire. Only God knows when the end of the world is. He also said in the Bible that "I will come like a thief in the night..." Nobody knows or COULD know when exactly the world will end. The second coming of God cannot be predicted, and doomsayers stating that the world will come to an end on 2012, or whatever time they say, they are wrong. No matter how advanced our technology gets on earth, we cannot make a correct guess at when the world will end. The book of Revelations says that the skies shall rain down fire. An earlier book in the Old Testament that the end of the world will be with fire. If that doesn't clear things up, then apparantly my explanation will not work.

Exactly, many people have been talking about this Idea a numerous times now, many the Idea of 2012. But still, I don't think it's true, the Earth is far from gone, nearly a billion years old but yet, Just the first post, only God knows. But yet they have shown this idea many times on the History channel and a few weeks back, I still think they talk about it, or even show it ,
But again, Rapture reminds me of Bioshock, for some crazy reason.
Wait, wait. It sounds like you guys are talking about Armageddon or the second coming or whatever. Isn't the rapture something entirely different that's supposed to happen before all the bad stuff goes down?
Actually Moegreche, the so-called rapture, was made up, there is no rapture, it says nothing about it in the Bible. If you heard about it on the History Channel, they are humans they are probably referring to Armageddon, if not, they are probably looking into the "rapture". No offence to any who believe differently.
Oh, and I'm sorry, not to offend anyone with that last post, but that is just what I believe. Also, having read the bible, I agree with the simple fact that the rapture is a man created phenomena appearing nowhere in the bible. Similar to celibacy.
I don't think that it is heaven that comes down it is a place that God created for 1,000 years of peace while the devil is chained up and after the 1,000 years God will destroy the devil forever
This also brings up the question to me, if you believe in god and the devil in this way, why wouldn't god, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, simply strike down a rebelling angel. It seems so strange to me that he would instead essentially give lucifer what he wanted, his own kingdom, and in doing so create a powerful evil being capable of influencing gods creation, man, who he only wants to have a relationship with, into doing evil. Seems kind of silly...if i were god I would have made that angel go *poof* and be done with it.
God is the almighty God and he wanted everyone to love him, but when lucifer wanted his own kingdom. he thought he was more powerful than God. Heaven is a place to worship God so when someone tries to take over and so God threw him into hell, and God did give him his own kingdom hell
@frank: You speak as if it definitely happened. I say to have an open mind. I accept that religion may be correct, but I'm not holding my breath. The Rapture may happen, but the chances are low.
Just saying, I did base that description off the Left Behind series. I've read all of them except the pre-trilogy or whatever you call it. Thats where I learned all that I have about the Rapture, besides the Bible, of course.
The new Jerusealm (heaven) Will come down and be the new one after teh rapture. Rapture: Teh vanishings before teh tribulation Armaggedeon: Teh battle between christians and God against Satan and non-christians of course God will win.
