What? We may be the most over crowded country in europe but I think (would hope) that imperialism is behind us for the time being. Then again it is the common wealths 60th birthday, maybe each member could donate some land lol.

well not really we just wouldn't know about it if we left

The main reason Americans are so despised is because of their involvement in the region. If US forces left, there would be no reason for them to fight.

well the taliban we're threatening the national security of the United States i think attacking the taliban was a good idea because if we didn't another terrorist attack would have happened now the taliban doesn't have the resources or the man power to pull off another major attack against the united states

More Americans have died during Operation Telic than died in the 911 attacks. Therefore invasion clearly isn't working. Plus, it wasn't the Taliban who instigated the attacks, it was Al Qaeda. They are separate entities. The Taliban sheltered him after the attacks, they didn't cause the attacks themselves.

The reason we are focusing on the Middle East is because the other organizations are not major threats to the region or world. The Taliban, for example, have taken over cities and has the Afghanistan government hostage.

The Taliban used to be the government. After the civil war ended against the Muhajadeen, they assumed power as victors. Right now, the ISAF forces and ANA are making progress. Most military experts are predicting the conflict to be over within the next 10-15 years. With more assets and manpower it could be done in less. The Taliban's strength has been inflated by the media, and this suits the US, prolonging their stay in the region, for resource
purposes.

Air superiority is a valuable asset, but with regards to guerilla warfare, it is not able to win on its own. The only way to win is to put men on the ground.

plus it costs tens of thousands of dollars for each bomb and bombing campaigns have never destroyed an enemy's will to fight it just strengthens their resolve

yeah cuz there would be no one for them to fight except the afghan government and after they were done with them they would just plot another attack against the US and its allies leaving wouldn't solve anything

Indeed, most 2000lb bombs cost millions.

Just look at Vietnam an estimated $250,000 of weaponry dropped for 1 VC death. Without adjusting for inflation, that's a huge sum.

Personally, I believe that now the ISAF forces are committed, it would be very difficult to leave before the job is done, without losing all credibility. However, if the US had not got involved in the region before, years before, the conflict would not have started.

Yes, but then Russia would be the problem instead of Afghanistan.

Wait, isn't that what's happening in Iraq and stuff right now, trying to get rid of the terrorists?

The World would really need a worldwide peace for about ten years. focus on the enviroment, the animal and keeping the world running smooth and safe. I think Obama is smart enough not to start a new war. but ofcourse it would be a problem if Iran/Iraq or another land attacked the US

I do not understand how Iraq could attack the US. Iran doesn't want to attack the US. It seems that there won't be much war for quite a while.

That's a load of shit dude. Greed is the driving force behind and war in Iraq. Why do you think they call their prisoners detainees when they're clearly prisoners of war? Why do you think they called it the "War on Terror" and the Liberation of Iraq? They want to do everything they can to make it look like they're doing Iraq a favour and to stop people associating Americas actions with an invasion on a country because they have no just reason, they just want the oil.
