Can we as Americans truly say, "Proud to be an American" after all the horrible things we've done?

Pride & Greed are sins...

Everything's a sin

No one should take any pride in being a citizen of a country. Nationalism is the cause of half the worlds problems, the other half are caused by religion.

Nationalism to a certain extent is ok. Once people start thinking their country is so much better than the rest that they have to point it out excessively, or take action to get rid of the other country, it's a problem.

Nah not any more, saying I'm proud to be an American seems like saying that I'm proud to be white it's a bit stupid. I'm happy I live here but I'm not proud.

I would have to say I'm not really proud to be an American either. I mean, it's a nice country and all, but it doesn't represent my ideals as well as I would like. For me to be proud of something I have to feel like it represents me.

Only a bit. I like how modern America is. But I don't like saying to foreign people on the net that I'm from America.

These days, I am not so proud to be American. I am grateful to live in a free country, but we are most likely the country with the most debt, crime, and obese people . . .

I just used the word "American" to describe someone the other day, they weren't American, it had nothing to do with where they were from..

It wasn't an insult...it was merely a hint at the person being close-minded and stubborn. Which is the general worldwide consensus on Americans.

I wouldn't appreciate being called close-minded and stubborn. How was it not meant to be an insult?
