Can we as Americans truly say, "Proud to be an American" after all the horrible things we've done?

cause we dont try and make peace with them .... we think we are the best in the world .... and that is another reason kirby had

I mean not trying to sound cocky but I'm stating what I believe is fact we are currently the most powerful nation in the world not the best though. Some people don't like us because we are some people hate us because the mentality we take and some are cool with the fact.

I'm proud to be an American but that dosen't mean I'm proud about everything this country has done so I agree with anyone who says that they aren't always proud to be an American. I also agree with Programpro that a lot of people seam to forget about the good things we have done.

Once again, I don't care about being American, and I dislike America.

Yes, that's exactly why people think he's a bad president. Oh, and also because he was total moron.

this is a very interesting topic. americans have done some truly horrible things. however, if you look at america compared to other countries like the stans, america has it far better. there is less poverty, a more stable government, and constant warfare is not being fought on our own soil. but there are some things that americans have done that no one would be proud of. but i think that if you look at the big picture of how our lives are good and peaceful, then you could be proud to be an american. to some degree...

From the first page. I was mildly surprised to see a post by Valkyrie that didn't mildly insult someone, bahah.

And yeah, I'm proud of who I am, but not JUST because I'm an American. I could be in the UK and still be proud, really, I could be anywhere that isn't under tyrannic control or horrible conditions and still be proud.

And I never was proud just because I am from America. Blind pride is really annoying.

And we have done some awful things, but we also have freedom and such and yadda yadda, so yeah.

Anyway, point is, I'm proud to be ME, not American.

Any particular reason for the attrocious grammar and bold lettering? Once again, Bush is just a scapegoat. Anyways, yes, I am proud to be an american. To hold the ideals of freedom and equal rights and the right to happiness, these are all things worth upholding. Now in practice, America may not be all of these things, but being an american means upholding these ideals, so yes, I am proud to be an american.
