Well,everybody thinks world will end in 2012(or once thinked),but in my opinion,the will be another world war based on nuclear and atomic weapons that will destroy most world's envroiment and population,or just make we angry and at 2013 will be a faire's tale?Take a look and see if the maya guys were wrong:finance Crisis(please excuse grammar mistakes),North Korea nuclear weapon stuff,Iraq war is getting bad,etc...and the good is that Barack Obama is making Cuba a ally for what is coming.The maya civilization could be some years wrong,i mean, the end could be at 2010,2011...Or even in this year!
They can be beaten. If one aims at the delicate arming electronics which includes a computer and a solenoid which enters the analog arming code, you can disable the warhead. What happens instead of a nuclear blast is a "mere" conventional explosion caused by hydrogen and oxygen mixing before they are supposed to... The reason is that nukes are VERY delicate and it takes very little to prevent them from working. The way they detonate is by a contact plate on their nose that only works IF the code has been entered which only happens in the rocket's main phase (after it clears its country's airspace and has entered the upper atmosphere). The other critical component about a nuke is that to set it off, you need to reach Critical Mass which is when you have enough in a small enough place. Technically, one gram could be used as a nuke, but you would need an insane concussive blast to make it work. In other words, the more you have, the easier it is to set off (and the blast of the mushroom is of course bigger...) If you rob a missile of its ability to properly detonate the conventional explosives (TNT, C4, etc) which set off the Uranium/Plutonium which in a Hydrogen Bomb set off, you guessed it, Hydrogen. Each uses the energy from the prior explosion. The Conventional bomb is electric. That concussive wave compresses the fissile material until critical mass which then heats the hydrogen (while compressing it as well) until you get fusion and a miniature supernova which is more commonly know as an H-Bomb and can be identified by the "Double Mushroom Cloud." If you take out the delicate part, they can't detonate and just land as like a small meteor (only much slower...)

It is how shall I say, "experimental..." Currently, we are in a number of treaties that prevent us from officially putting weapons in space, but should we disguise these things as com satellites or eyes in the sky, it wouldn't matter. And in the end, we could justify having them because they did shoot at us... Common sense says that eventually, orbital strikes will become common place and after that, space itself will become the battlefield. It is just a matter of time...

the mayans said that the world would be flooded by the gods, as several heiroglypical tablets have shown, though not nessasarly in 2012, as there callender stopped.

The Aztecs for instance predicted that their god of war would return on a set day which just happens to be the day when Europeans came over to visit... I think its weird but no more than that...

Anyway, I don't see the world ending anytime soon, though I do not discard possibilities. However, if it is going to end by manmade causes, the Mayans couldn't possibly have predicted it.
Well, predicting the future is only possible if you exit the universe, and something tells me, the mayans couldn't go faster than light, so that wouldn't happen. If you did leave, you could see the way the world would end, regardless of whether it was by our hand or not...
yeah a nuclear war between a country like russia would make more sense, since they actually have more nukes than we do.
your right, but usa would win because "its quality, not quantity". we have one of, if the the best, missle defense in the world. we have the best military force in the world. the second russia hits the "big red button" us will launch intercepters, poseidons, and minuteman to name a few right back at russia over the artic (circle).
Guys, I don't think we're staying on topic - "For some there will be food, others misfortunes" What does that tell you? Downfall, possibly, it could be a VERY POWERFUL sign that Iraq etc is going to grow in wealth, the Mayans are a much more powerful race than I expected, and I hate the very fact the Spanish people burnt their texts, I do blame you, but I don't hate you - Devils writing, seems unorthodox but sacrificing people is out of line..... For the most anyway, all I'm saying is that we MUST heed their warning, no there isn't proof but this overwhelming evidence has to make us NOT TAKE THE CHANCE, it said in the episode that we only cower when catastrophe actually hits, you know I'm telling the truth...
I think a good dose of common sense would do the world some good, and with that comes a healthy level of fear.
We are wired, albeit by God or natural selection, to prevent our own deaths. I think that we should do so. Hopefully, the stupid people in the world won't kill everyone with common sense...
