Since I have joined Armorgams . . .I see a lot of Atheists and their threads about why people believe in God etc . . . I wanted to start a thread about the bible and christianity.
The purpose of this thread is to debate a different book of the bible each week. We will discuss lessons, morals, and different stories.
We will have friendly debates. Please . . . if you are atheist or of other beliefs . . . you may discuss in this thread, just PLEASE no fighting, flaming, spamming, trolling . . . etc
This week we will begin from the beginning . . . .Genesis
wartank is right,a mass-murderer could go to heaven while someone who only committed small sins went to hell,as long as the mass murderer asked for forgiveness before he died,he would go to heaven.
I wasnt criticizing, I was just curious. I try to respect all religions and beliefs even if they are different from mine. If I said anything to offend anyone then I am sorry.
No a mass murderer will never ever go to Heaven
IF they are truly sorry for what they have done, and will never do it again and accept God then they have a chance to get into heaven
IF they are truly sorry for what they have done, and will never do it again and accept God then they have a chance to get into heaven
Exactly my thoughts. A concept that is hard for people to accept is forgiving those who have commited unspeakable acts. This is because someone like Hitler, from our perspective, couldn't possibly be sorry. But he might've been sorry, and intended to make up for it. But he cannot fake sorrow to God, so only he is fit to judge.
Really. . .Christianity is the largest religious group in the world and has done tons of harm to other groups in the past. A lot of the 'impoliteness' or 'flaming' to any religious group modern-day anywhere is due to over-sensitivity.
I find it annoying when people complain about their religious group being flamed - most of the time, it really isn't anything important.
I know someone who thinks the very existence of atheism is insulting to Christianity. That is the epitome of whininess.
Same thing about the atheists who want the Pledge changed back - it logically shouldn't really matter because you can't be bothered by something you don't believe to exist.
But still it is kind of mean to insult anothers' beliefs.
Sure, absolutely. I don't go around dishing out insults to atheists and I don't like it when they dish out insults to Christians. But I also try not to hit back unless I have a point to make. Anger and hatred is like a fire... if you don't feed it, it dies down eventually.
No matter how small it has got to agitate you in some way
Not really. . . . I admit that I typically am not an emotional/sensitive person, but beliefs shouldn't be something to get offended over. It makes the offender and the offendee look immature.
if people didn't insult Christians we wouldn't be 'whiny' as you claim us to be.
1st. Never made that claim.
2nd. Examples of insult. Christianity is the largest religious group in the world - you guys don't have to take crap from anyone, so why do you? Ignore those who seek to offend you.
Be a good person, that's all God expects or wants out of you, whether you beleive in him or not.
That should be the bottom line, if you are nice and kind but don't believe in God, you should get some credits towards Heaven
Actually, the bible says that in order to be accepted into Heaven, you must first accept that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and you must accept Him into your heart. If you do not do that, then you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven . . .
Killing around 10 million people through your acts is unspeakable and does not deserve forgiveness God should know that.
Are you kidding me? There isn't a single person on this Earth today that deserves to go to heaven. That's what's so great about God, no matter how for we go down the wrong path, no matter how much junk we have behind us in our lives, We can still be forgiven, all we have to do is turn around and he'll come to us.
yea,if he did not execpt one person, since got is fair, he does not put a good person over a mass muderer. he puts them at the same lvl. if he did not except on person, he would not be able to except others.
There's been a lot of debate about rapists and murderers genuinely asking for forgiveness and getting to heaven, and how that's a bit unfair. What do you guys think of Purgatory? The pseudo-hell where you still pay for your sins before you go to heaven.
what i meant by "he would not be able to except others" i meant he is a fair god,if he said no to someone who truly wanted forgiveness,he would not let himself except others.
