is it just because it has the word metal in it and its a completely different type of music? not sure if thats the main reason cos tbh i prefer linkin park to lamb of god
I love nu metal, Nobody realises it was the nu metal scene that brought metal back after people stopped enjoying it in the 90's. Oh yeah and a lot of modern metal bands used to be Nu metal bands which is what got them famous in the first place.
Linkin Park just sucks, that's it! I used to listen their first album, maybe 4 or 5 years ago, and it wasn't metal...just some sort of fusion-rock... And it's not because it's a different type of music, like ou thought, muffinman... I listen t Punk, and I offten hear people sayin' "it's not music, it's noise", so even if metal is not what I like, I recognize it's a powerfull type of music, with thousands and thousands of fans in the world, very tecnichal and all the stuff, but LP isn't metal anyway... Unless I don't reckon...
Ok sorry for that one, in my head it was more metal than the definition they give... So I'm right, Linkin Park sucks, they're not doing metal, they're doing a so-called NU metal, which is, in fact, no more than fusion-ock or whatever... So it's normal that metal addicts don't like NU metal, if it's not! It's just like if you said: Why do people that listen to pop-punk (Green Day, Offspring, NOFX, Bad Religion and stuff) don't like Punk Hardcore?(Kid Dynamite, Black Flag, Comeback Kid, etc...) Because it's really different, eventhough it has a part of the name in common...

Linkin park sucks now yes they stopped doing nu metal.
Nu metal is not your so called fusion rock(a term you made up), It is a genre with a metal style with other genres thrown in, it is still metal and not just the name is common.
The reason I think people don't like Nu metal and like metal is because to them nu metal is a fad, once some people stopped liking it, more people stop and then get into metal as a result and then when metal fans say "nu metal sucks, it's not real metal" other people start to follow and pretend they agree.By the way most of this happened in the early 2000's. I'm still a devoted fan of course.
Its ok if you genuinely don't like it, but most of the time I think its just people being sheep and liking what they are told to like and not liking what their friends dont like.
They started out a nu metal band listen to Hybrid theory and Meteora, they changed with the release of Minutes to midnight.
Just because a band started out as one genre does not mean that they cannot evolve and diversify. And people claim to be true-heart LP fans. Good riddance, even Shinoda himself said that the band did not want to overdo the genre and spoil it.
And no, nu-metal is a sub-genre of metal, it is not fully metal so stop comparing them to other bands such as Iron Maiden, Slipknot or what not. Sure those bands are great too, but their not on the same platform, comparing them would be futile.
Nu metal bands often feature aggressive vocals that range from melodic singing similar to pop and rock, guttural screaming and shouting from various forms of metal, hardcore punk, and like funk metal; rapping is often used.
This is what nu-metal is. Partially metal, but not really metal at the same time. Add in the fact that many nu-metal bands have a DJ that adds scratches and electronic music, you get something almost un-metal.
Just because a band started out as one genre does not mean that they cannot evolve and diversify.
I didn't say I had a problem with it, I think you misunderstood what I said(somehow) as a criticism of Linkin park but you can see I just said changed as in they changed their style.
I understand all what you're talking about, but I still think that, even in their first albums, Linkin Park didn't do any metal... And Fusion rock is not a made up term, I know many people using it...when you made some music with fusion of rock and rap, or metal and rap, like LP seems to do... LP is still very mainstream...
