I don't get the point of being homophobic, why hate someone because they find the same sex attractive?

As in, when I see an obvious homo, I avoid. At all costs.

This is how I feel about homos. If I can tell they are gay, like at a theme park or something, Avoid. At all costs.

I am not afraid of gay people,I just tend to get nervous when they stand or sit really close to me.
i saw two men holding hands i was extremely disgusted.

Now that's just a ridiculous over reaction.
If you'd said kissing or embracing each other like a couple, then I could understand it slightly better.

But holding hands? *headdesk* I guess a father hugging his son is a pedophile, then.
Well, if they're holding hands and saying, "Your eyes are so sparkly!" Or what ever gay guys/girls flirt like.

â"noun
unreasoning fear of or antipathy toward homosexuals and homosexuality.

Antipathy Synonyms:
1. disgust, abhorrence, detestation, hatred

fear OR antipathy also just because that's the decided definition doesn't mean it's true it'd be very hard to create a completely true definition of a word.

Also I'm terrified of spiders, not just poisonous ones anyone even dead ones * shudders*

I don't really care if someone's homosexual or not. If someone's gay/lesbian, then they just like a different kind of person. Not really anything to get worked up about.
Although I do get that some people are afraid of them. Why? I don't know. Most phobias are irrational, so if you ask them, they probably wouldn't be able to explain. They just are afraid of them and don't want to be around them.
Note that homophobia is entirely different from hating homosexuals. Hate is a choice. Fear is not. Well, I guess hate might not be a choice if you were raised that way, but ACTING on that hate...definitely a choice. And I shall leave the acting on the hate to the gay version of the KKK.
Of course, what's funny is most homophobics and homo-haters are Americans. And what's funny about that is that America's motto is "freedom for all" and etc etc. We had a war for African Americans, and we almost lost our economy for Jews and illegal immigrants(no offense to either of those races, and I'm not saying all immigrants lack a green card). But we are still hating on the homos? We make room for different races, different religions, different genders, but not different sexual orientations? It just doesn't make sense.

Well my uncle is gay and I have no problem with gays, but my friend has a gay brother and is very homophobic. And just because you are uncomfortable when a gay sits or stands near you doesn't mean you are homophobic, only you are uncomfortable.

Yeah. I might get uncomfortable, but I'm not homophibic. I actually enjoy their companionship as long as they don't start bringing up uncomfortable subjects or start hitting on me.

If a gay guy ever tried to ask me out, I'm sorry but I'd probably punch him in the face.

Because he definitely knows that you're straight? You're disgusting, I'm sorry. Having that fear is one thing, but admitting that you'd act upon it in a violent fashion of any form isn't acceptable in modern society.

I understand where you're coming from Divine, I would too. However, that would only be because I'd think it was some random straight guy trying to be funny.

If they guy was actually gay then I would walk away very very quickly. >_>

That's the problem your saying that he's a homo no he's your friend, we shouldn't define people like that, I know some kids who are homosexual I call them Taylor and David not homo's.
