Yeah, government doesn't get any money from television entertainment shows like that. They can't because of our constitutional rights, it says the press or media (in this case TLC) can't be controlled by government
so your all saying..that bigbad companies such as Bell and Rogers, dont pay taxes?
if they fail then they shift the % gained from that to redistribute a say... .005% increase everywhere? why are you arguing where the govt gets money in a gay marriage thread?
MY problem is the fact Graham is on my computer talking to me, i dont like it one bit, SO STOP
hahaaa... if you don't like it you are free to go offline
Im christian but I still have gay friends as christians aren't we supposed to accept everyone? They should be able to do whatever they want god gave free will. And for thos of you that think homosexuality goes against the bible in the bible it also says the if you eat a certain kind of meat you will go to hell. Now that makes no sense either does it? Plus the bible was not actually written by christ and I think there are enough examples of the disciples being confused on what he meant in the bible to agree that the bible is not the end all be all of christianity. You just supposed to do whats right which would be accepting others.
As for the government why should they not let gays get married one legitimate reason.
well i think the problem most people have is not gay couples legalizing their relationship and having the same rights as hetero marrigaes. i think the problem is in the name. people want to have marriage as a partnership of men and women. and if the choice of name is the biggest problem, than lets just call it legal homosexualpartnership. they will get the same rights as married couples and noone will care or feel offended
Sometimes it seems so rediculous to me like treating someone diferently because of their beliefs or skin color why should it matter everyone is still a person
marriage is a traditional spiritual matter concerning christianity. the gays want the label of marriage because it is a house-hold name and are willing to go to court to have it. i'm for gay partnership but not marriage.
So it's purely what word they want to use for their union? That's a little petty, isn't it? Should Hindu or Muslim couples have a different word for being 'married' too because they're not Christian and 'married' is an English word?
The government should get out of the marriage business all together. Marriage is essentially a religious institution so it's really up to religions weather or not they want to allow gays to marry. IMO the government should only recognize civil unions, not marriages in the religious sense, and gays should be allowed to have civil unions (civil union). I know that would probably piss alot of people off but that's their problem.
