The United States pledge of allegiance

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands: one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

This is repeated every morning by students all over the world, and is recited at many events. However, there's one part that many people have a problem with. "One nation, under God". Why should Americans be forced to acknowledge the existence of God to pledge their allegiance to their country?

So my question to you: Should the "under God" be removed from the pledge of allegiance?

Jehovah, Allah, and God are almost the same thing too. In fact while you are saying the pledge whisper Allah instead of God if you are Muslim or something, its almost the same thing.

the point is that a lot of people do not to be forced to pledge on something they dont believe in.

so just redo it the way it was originally written.

But the point is it doesn't really bother all that many people,

there are processes about this happening every couple of years, so yes it does bother a lot of people.

the funny thing is the courts rarely take a real decision on that. the case is mostly dropped.

and the pledge in its current form does violate the first amandement.

I just don't say under God when reciting the pledge, I would be happy if they took it out, but I don't care if they don't

Actually I always found that really amusing - I mean, since one of the things Jesus was all about was giving up your 'worldly' posessions, and on top of that -

"I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

To print something about god on your money? Hilarious.

Actually, now because of complaints from the minority that is Atheism, the pledge of allegiance is slowly being banned in schools. This is in fact suppression of of people who are Christians, and the Christians have the majority and the founding fathers were Christian, so suppressing that is not right. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

And, you are not required to say it. If it is against your beliefs to say any of it, that is respected and you are allowed to sit down. At my school and schools i have been two, i have seen students sit down or remain silent because the do not want to say it.

I have only heard of one case where a student got in trouble for not saying it, and the teacher was one of those few hundred crazy people who will kill you if you forget to say "God Bless You" after coughing. The students punishment was revoked by law.

So suck it.

I still dont understand why atheists are offended by something that they say doesnt exist. By saying it offends you you are acknowledging that it exists. If it were to be "One nation under some Hobo off the street" I wouldnt care, actually I wouild think it was quite funny! And again, are all of the atheists in America going to go marching to the white house to complain to Obama about having "In God We Trust" on our money? by saying you wont say the pledge because God is in it, you are saying you will never us American money because it has God on it.

Man, I repeat it over and over, no one should ever be compelled to stand up and pledeg a God he doesn't believe in...
It's like the other guy said (I don't recall his pseudo), if you were forced to pledge david Beckham instead of God, would you be happy?
Would you be hapopy if someone told you to pledge for something you don't believe in, or even like?
I don't understand why it's not revolting you...
Pledging God while your not Christian?Ity's horrible, and it shown that your country have a serious issue with religion...

Maybe ebcause they don't want to be compelled to pretend believe in a God while they don't?
And we don't say God offends us, for God dosen't exists (as for us...), but we say that pledging him while you don't believe in his wrong, and shouldn't be allowed in a rich and evolved country...

that is not even true. i can be offended by many thinks that are untrue or do not exist. there is not even a link between the existence of things and being offended

Hahahah wait rich what trillion dollars of debt poverty and unemployment at an all time high? Evolved well that's purely a matter of opinion. It doesn't matter how "rich" or "evolved" a country is God is still important.

I find it funny how atheists seem to ignore that people came to America so the could be Christian without being persecuted. When ever I say that they always ignore me and a few of my other points.
