Lately I've been seeing a lot of people who have 10,000+ AP, and all they've done is rate 1,000 games and comment a million times. While I'm over here just playing games I like, and having fun in the forums. So even though I'm not worried about AP too much, it just kind of annoys me that that's all they care about on the site.

My question to you guys is what do you think the best way to gain AP is? Would you respect someone if they were #1 on the site but had never made a single forum post? Or how about if all they had were forum posts?

This is what irritates me, the fact that anyone who leads the leaderboard is a spammer! Not true. Is sometimes, but not for certain. People can easily have previously played the games and just rated it, and it's not too hard to play like 500 in 15 days. Seems like alot, but not too difficult.

He had about 900 games played in 4-5 days, highly unlikely.

It's really not that hard to go throught a lot of if you spend all day going through it. Also people comment a lot to each other and it's easy to get a lot of ap if you have a lot of friends on AG.

Anyway the most repectable way to get AP would be mertis and good forum posts.

Which gets more entries?

Most likely the first.
But then again, would anyone really care to join in on a contest that says nothing to them, if they actually cared about it?
There is a reason I have not entered the ASC for a month or two. I do not feel like drawing these days, and not even a merit will get me to do so.
In the end, it is really up to oneself if they find the way they gain their ap respectable or not. If they do not care about the ap, but just use the features to help and discuss, it is, well, more respectable, is it not?

That's a little over 2 minutes, which is enough to get sort of used to a game and play it a little.

You really shouldn't just play a game for 2 minutes and then decide if it's a good game or not. You should play for at least 10-15 minutes. People put a long time into games, they deserve to get a fair review.

I think the most respectable way to earn AP is on the forums or just in your comment but having a real convo not a 2 min one then its over.

I do beleive that devoting your life to posting forums is not exactly a great way to go. I do not care if you do that, but it really burns me when someone like that accuses you of spamming all the games just to get ap. Makes me wonder if they have ever played a game here in their life.

Well my answer for that is well if they didnt have any forum posts then their doing good good but its not like their arent taking the time out to play the games and commenting with friends...if they had only foum posts then they like to contribute to the conversations and debates between other AG...

Well said, HoodHulk. I think the forum posts are the most respectable way to obtain AP, considering the fact that the user does not spam.

True i agree, it would be unfair to let somebody just spam their way to the top...but aslong as the dont spam its ok to hasve nothing but forum posts.

Yeah, one time I saw someone comment his own page like 1000 times. That is considered unfair.

Well, to me talking to your friend can sometimes not be respectable.

Example:

A: HEY! DKSJDKJKSAJDKJKJS

B: WTF? SUIUDIGHJDHJDH

A: U SUCK!

Though talking to your friends (properly) is a very, very respectable way to gain AP.

But couldn't you just use IM? Don't get me wrong, I'm not against using AG to chat, but when you only use AG for that it seems a bit pointless.

Personally I think the forums are the most respectable way to get AP. Everything else is fine as long as you don't spam though.
