Lately I've been seeing a lot of people who have 10,000+ AP, and all they've done is rate 1,000 games and comment a million times. While I'm over here just playing games I like, and having fun in the forums. So even though I'm not worried about AP too much, it just kind of annoys me that that's all they care about on the site.

My question to you guys is what do you think the best way to gain AP is? Would you respect someone if they were #1 on the site but had never made a single forum post? Or how about if all they had were forum posts?

My opinion is that all the ways to gain AP are respectable as long as you don't spam.
I think that is important playing games (it's a game website), write once in a while good reviews and earn merits and post in the forums some times. That's all.

I have over 10,000, and almost half of it is from forum posts. . . .

I have over 10,000 forum posts, which make up 1/4 of my AP.
I think merits is still the most respectable, because it's not gained automatically...

Merits. Mertis are the one thing yo uactually have to work for.

Becuse I could have said "I put jelly in my gas tank!!!!" And posted it, and got one point.

And I could (As ALOT of people do...*cough*xcalibur45*cough*) Just rate games and comment on them with out playing them......

So realy.......merits, followed by forum posts, with GOOD messanger comments next, then games rating.

Wrong. Dead wrong. The most respectable way to gain AP, by far, is submitting games. Merits can take 10 minutes while creating games can take weeks, or even months. And more people respect game designers than any other users.

The most respectable? Submitting Games. Game making requires a incredible amount of skill, and time. Of course, that is in no way possible for the average person. So, in this case i am going with merits.

I have to add also something they insult them also a lot, if they don't make a "good" game. The majority does not respect their work even to make a "bad' game you have to spend hours and hours. It's not nice when you see bad things about your work.

But people still respect them for making the game...

I don't think that respect them, they are jealous because they can't make one and he cans.

People with common sense respect them; immature newbies who hate anything better than them don't.

Immature newbies are many, they are probably the majority of the active users.

Users who matter respect game designers the most. Let's leave it at that.

is it hateful envy or playful?

sure you'd feel jealous but that doesn't mean you can't respect them.

i think the 2 best ways to earn AP is forum posting and merits and i respect both a good forum post and a good comment.
