These are basically all the things i know about colony

Why should my advice be trusted? ive played 134 games and am rank 5, so give them some thought and improve them if possible.

Bugs

-Cheating in earthquake and dogfight: since u cant make air units in earthquake or ground in dogfight, heres how you get around that(if u use this i consider u a cheater unless someone did it before u making u resort too it). What you need too do is memorys the hotkeys for every single unit, in a dogfight if u know the hotkey for a marine u can make one if you press it, its that simple.How too counter this glitch? there is no way.

-Exploding units: my most hated and the most anoying glitch ever, when u have a massive3 army(about 20 units) and u attack an enemy who has alot less, instead of a fight his units will just explode. Two armys of same size will instead self distruct 1 unit from each side.How too counter this glitch? always attack with a small army before it becomes too massive on both ends and the glitch occurs.

-Units randomly exploding: if ur units are in the middle of the field blockading the enemy(see blockade under strategy section) And they randomly start too explode, what happens is a video glitch, on ur screen ur units are no where neer the base but on everyone elses they are being fired at by the base. how too counter? move ur units all the way back and try it again usually helps.


Strategy's

-Blockade: Note, i coined this strategy. The blockade is as simple as this, make an army and place them at the center of the field, close enough too where the enemys troops spawn. What this does is kill any troops they try too make and prevents them from making a large army. if u do this right its an auto win.

Earthquake

- at this moment heres things you shouldnt do, dont make a blockade unless u have medics(this is not a contradiction of what i said about the bug, if ur tanks r close enough too the enemy they wont explode, only take dmg so medics will heal any dmg from a blockade)dont make a bank(hover tanks dont cost money) and dont make gladiators(why? hover tanks massacre them).What i do? 3 armory's making manpower and sometimes energy with an armory making hover tanks.


Dogfight

Blockade works nicely here, its gutsy but heres how u can make a blockade, make a forge(first thing u do) then instantly make a small army?(people make banks first usually so u have time too attack) and if done right they will not be able too make troops while ur partner gets his economic buildings up.

- heres what i do if i have time, Get an armory a generator(tier 2) Then build two forges, when needed auto build two scouts at a time.

-Lastly DO NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER build a black queen, they are the most useless thing u can have in dogfight and u will definatly loose if u do this, why? because black queens dont destroy groups of air units all at once like they do with ground units. and they will be pawned by scouts.

If you have knowledge about other tactics and stuff about colony please post it.

Hint: rank 1 is not the highest rank, its the lowest, i dont know if rank 5 is highes but i know u get it at a 77% win, i only have 82% so i cant say if theres a rank 6

I'm pretty sure you can still rank without a consecutive win streak, but you would have to play a lot of matches....... I would be more certain about it if my rank didn't keep going back to 1. XD

groditzs are almost too good too, especially in low tech. To me, low tech is for noobs who are afraid of hovers and gladiators
Anyone who is good at colony plays normal, because in a game that restricts certain units, it means the people who play it are afraid of the units that are restricted
... O_O
In my opinion, groditz are almost always useless. They take too long to get to be useful in early-game, and they're too slow and weak to be useful in late game. And there's really no "middle-game" except for several seconds where people might be waiting for a bit more money so that they can get an arsenal.
Low Tech is for people who want to have rush 2v2, not necessarily noobs.
Also, about that last part... no. Just no.

im only rank 3! DUDE what is up with this game how many games do u have to win or beat to get another rank i need to find these ranks out and a good way to win is to make a speacial forces then build special forces then a forge then own them with forces and scouts

Your good way to win isn't exactly going to work if your up against pros.
Not saying its bad but they could have already rushed you. Back to your rank problem. All you have to do is play I think about between 50-70 games and have a good consecutive win streak. (to get rank 4).

Thanks matrix i just won like 2-3 games today but if u dont have consecutive win streaks and u still win game can u still rank

It's pretty good, but I'm content with randomly sending out units, wasting resources, and blowing up everything. ;P

srry I was just pasteing Protips: Groditz wasn't so bad, they are strong against about 4 scouts at a time, good agaist scouts, sakata mk-11, and queens when the queen waste it's bullet at your troops = marines.

Yeah, you pretty much have to do forge/outpost to prevent ties, forge vs forge means both sides just mass phantoms/sakatas and you end up with nobody attacking as then their force will be destroyed, and eventually glads/spiders will be produced and annhilated by enemy phantoms, while outpost vs outpost means massing units and then more stalemate as normally they'd all blow up, but less so than forge vs forge...
WRONG! Just move you sakatas into range.... POOF! Bye Bye Helis.You should have roman/spider support

In a Dogfight, I'm always Monarchy. I make a bank, a Hospital, a War Sanction, another bank, and then send Saints. I blockade if I think my Saints could win in a quick firefight. Saints beat Black Queens, but lose against massed Scouts. You need your partner to defend the base while you set, then make sure the enemy army stays small by attacking tehm often with your Saints or just blockading. The wrost thing your enemy can do if your doing this is rush.

you are wrong nitro.It's not nessacary(error spelling)that the saint will die before the mass scouts.By the time you get a saint out, your enemy's scout army is still small.What you can do is advance your saint and destroy them(or at least weaken the army).I recommend building a forge as part of your strategy.When you got your saint, you should have about 40-50 energy.Build scouts until you finish on resources.Then build another saint(if you have enough influence).If your enemy's army is attacking, i would rather worry about my aly if he's not making more scouts(that is if he's build is scouts!).As i have posted in another colony forum, units decrease their range when they attack.Normally i would just sit there and wait until the carnage is over(if I win)then attack.


P/S:My unit range theory hasn't betrayed me in over 50 years!

Colony hasn't been around for 50 years. Lol. Anyways, you're right about units having less range when attacking. Waldo told me to charge then hold. Charging and holding has a good effect on having units fire at the same time. This is called micro. Micro is a certain movement of your units. So just staying and holding won't do much. The game will become just a sit, build up, wait game which is tedious. Micro is a spice that makes the game more fun. This tactic is has a good effect on all game modes. Just make sure you get the timing right.

i find a good tactic is to have a way to adapt to diffrent situations. Capitalist and monarch are suited for tactics like this. Commie is reliant on post while fac for forge.

build the following in the order 1 - 4
Bank
Ugrade Bank
Forge
Ugrade Forge
Generater
Ugrade generater

Now, u cant build spiders without armony so-
build-
armony
ugrade udgraded forge
demolish armony
build anythind you want!
spiders r nw available without armony!

thats not very reliable. in most situations spiders are not eq suited. hovers will beat them. chronites can get an early pin with medics. snipers would be coomon by this point. All of which will (i think) outrange the spiders before they can heal or fight
