So it's very early in the morning, I couldn't sleep anymore and in trying to find something to occupy myself I came across this idea and decided that I would give it a go. This idea is mostly born of a mental stall but I'm hoping that it will be fun and useful for any who choose to participate.

The Goal of this Thread:

Here I invite anyone interested to join me in creative writing exercises. The premise is that someone (I will give a starter) will suggest a subject and any who wish can submit a writing on said subject. I hope that someone else out there is interested!

Guidelines:

All posts most meet expectations posted on Art, Music, and Writing Rules.
Any writing on a posted subject will be welcomed, these should be: descriptive paragraphs, poems, or short stories. Short stories should be posted as links to their location so as to avoid extremely long posts. Constructive criticism and encouragement are also welcome as long as they aren't spam. Please look for the most recently posted subject before submitting writings.
When the time comes for suggesting a subject I will maintain the right to veto any I don't feel are appropriate. I want this to remain a creative thread, not a debate thread, I will thus shoot down any subjects concerning politics or religion. Any other subjects that do not breech forum rules will be acceptable. Once there are a few people involved (assuming there is any interest) I will arrange for subjects to be voted on by participants. I will ask that subject suggestions be sent to my profile. Thank You!

Starter Subject: An apple.

The crisp red skin of the apple gives way with a snap as she bites into it, revealing the soft white flesh contained within. The sweet juices rush to meet her tongue as she chews, savoring every droplet of flavor. Every bite brings more of the apples succulent aroma. Every tear of her teeth releases more of the tangy juice. Soon she is wiping juice from her chin and licking it from her fingers, reluctant to waste even a drop of it's powerful elixir. The apple's flesh is gradually torn away and only the core remains in the end.

So, I know that's not much of a starter but like I said this is an idea born of a mental stall. So show me what you've got people! Thanks!

And once Loki stole the apples and gave them to a ... I have no idea what to call them in English > < Anyway, big chaos, so much trouble...

A giant? Loki gave them and Idun to a giant, then the gods started to grow old and Odin ordered to Loki to bring Idun and her apples back. (I just happened to have a Norse book sitting up 6 feet away from me)

And concerning this thread, LLT you say that we will change the subject when the time comes, just wondering if you have an idea for when that is.

Loki, the trickster.

He deserved to be imprisoned like Fenrir.

Haha, Loki is partially responsible for Ragnarok so yeah he should be...
But, then again, on Ragnarok, Fenrirsulfur will escape, and kill Odin, so I don't think those ribbons will hold him forever.

An object sailed through the air. Glinting red, yellow, and orange, as it moved through the sunlit spaces between the shadows cast by leaves above. It arced gracefully, spinning backward slightly as it descended toward its target. Thwack, the apples salute, as it met with the back of my brothers head.

There is my two sense everyone. Took about 45 seconds to write...and unfortunately it is only something I have wanted to do but never actually carried out...sigh.

Now something I wrote. Bronze inspired me to give a Haiku a go

And my Haiku Contest inspired Bronze to write a haiku! If not a creepy haiku... Karma FTW!

Hmm, off the top...

That is great. You really did a great job capturing the suspense of the moment!

Was the only thing I could come up with, when it comes to apples, really > <...

I know it's a pretty lame topic. ~.~ It was all I could think of at the time.

Inspiration begets inspiration. I glad I could help to bring out a Haiku that didn't involve a dead person. :P
Love the Newton Haiku, it's funny.

I'm glad to know you never actually did it. :\\ And I did notice I just left it for last to freak you out, Mwahahahaha. Anyhow, I liked your paragraph. You painted a pretty good picture of the light reflecting off of the apples skin.

Regarding Subject Change:

And concerning this thread, LLT you say that we will change the subject when the time comes, just wondering if you have an idea for when that is.

I saved this one for the very last because I felt it would probably take me longest to address.
At the moment I only have two suggestions for subjects, one being my own. I would really like to get at least 3 more before a new subject is choosen and annonced. Anyone who has a topic suggestion please send it to my profile. At this point what I have decided is that I am going to take all the suggestions, quite literally, throw them all into a hat and then draw one at random. I figured that would, for the moment, be the fairest way to choose.
I am hoping that I will have enough suggestions by Monday (August 31) that I will be able to post a new topic sometime that afternoon or evening. But it all depends on whether or not I get a few more suggestions ~.~ if I get the suggestions then I will definately announce a new subject on Monday. I want people to have a little more time to contribte something on the apple before we shift, which is why I am waiting until Monday. I'll post again later w/suggestion status update.

Questions, comments? Just call...ok so don't call anybody just post it here or on my profile.

I often see myself as a writer more than an artist, and yet an artist more than a writer... Painting with words to get a beautiful picture and painting a story to be followed with excitement and hesitation.

Or something like that.
But thank you, it just appeared.

Hmm, what else... Nope, nothing.

A person printing with pen and paper can paint as pretty a picture as a portrait-artist, with proper practice the pen can provide for the people a portrait more perfect than a plaster cast. hehe XP

Ah all right, this seems like fun. Somehow reminds me of yoga, maybe because of the title and OP. Anyways, I'll give it a shot.
Warning: Some morbidity.

Franklin Faehr swore explosively in Latin as the juice from the apple dripped off Carane's chin, the crunch as poor Carane bit hard into the apple. Time seemed to slow, and Faehr distinctly heard the PLOP! as the juice droplet connected with the hard tile floor, the harsh lights casting an eerie reflective glow on everything. Gasping for breath as the poison in the apple began to take hold, Carane fell to his knees, gripping his neck as though grappling with an invisible enemy. Faehr sighed sadly and wished bitterly that Carane had been honest and loyal, or had at least recognized that the apple was poisoned. The guilt built up over the years of being an assassin had reached breaking point, the pain Franklin Faehr experienced from the guilt almost as severe as the agony Carane now felt. His mouth foaming and his body shaking uncontrollably, Carane fell to the floor in the prone position. Then, his glassy eyes rolled up, staring into nothing, his face pale and clammy, covered in sweat. His struggles ceased. And his hand fell to the floor, dropping the succulent red apple with a single bite taken out of it, juices flowing. And the apple rolled across the floor to Faehr's feet. He crushed it beneath his hard boots, sending poisonous apple pulp splattering everywhere. And then he walked away, the strong, special acidic properties in the apple causing it to hiss and melt right through the four padded walls.

And in case you're wondering, yes, this is an excerpt out of one of my stories. I thought it fit perfectly, yes?

Yes, indeed. Where exactly would I find these stories? You've got me interested now?

Sorry, you can't find them anywhere. I know, it's torture. But that excerpt just happens to be out of a story I won't finish for a very long time =(.
Anyways, it was fun participating.
