Let's please not lump etremists of any type into these threads so we can have a legitimate, friendly debate(s).

Dont worry, it was a reference to another thread we had an argument in, it's cool

You're correct, there is no "conclusive or measurable" proof that prayer alone can manifest an occurance that would have naturally occurred, otherwise.
I am offering a condensed version and this is the first time I've written this down.
Can a natural vs supernatural occurance bring to mind such vivid memories?
Keep reading, I'll attempt to answer this question as I cover some other points...

You claim it has an effect that can be measured physically, thus it has some physical aspects.

If I may, I would like to mention the quality of prayer; not as a dodge but to illustrate that the above mentioned prayers were the most heart felt, sincere, unselfish prayers, except for the Prayer of Jabez or let's say represent the top of the list.
I rarely, if ever, receive God's blessing or answer to a prayer I don't personally believe in. In other words, I can't be sincere over praying for someone's financial situation when they go from church to church waiting for the plate to be passed around for their "love" offering(s).
The only exceptions are for people with no insurance, or are struggling musicians, missionaries.

Plenty of people have there heartfelt prayers not answered. My dog died. People with cancer who were prayed for die every day. Why doesn't it work for them?

Without sounding like a "know-it-all", I'm painfully aware of losing family members to cancer that you've prayed for their restored health, for years. I also know that the mind is an amazing tool in and of itself. I've read about and heard people tell me of their personal experiences that are so amazing that it just doesn't seem possible, naturally.

Cancer goes away on itself some times. Once again, please heal an amputee. The things you have mentioned so far happen naturally to people of all religions and non religions. For example, why not a heartfelt prayer for an old man or women who needs an oxygen tank or a cane? Thinks like that don't usually go away naturally, and someone in your family may even have them.

That's the best news I've heard in a long time 314d1! I hope you're sincere because I've been avoiding answering your rants because they usually are emotionally charged.

Probably for a few days. The effect will wear off after I come back from my two week break.

I think the current theory was the singularity and we have already proven that living cells can come from non living...

i havent been on herer for a while but thsi seemed very interesting. What caused the singularities to happen so that they could creat the cells

I think your getting the statement mixed up. The singularity didn't create cells. The singularity was what expanded forming the universe. As for where this singularity came from we don't know, it's possible it was always there as it relied on quantum physics. It's also possible it budded from another universe.

Our whole universe was in a hot dense state
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started

Wait!

The earth began to cool
The autotrophs began to drool
Neanderthals developed tools
We built a wall
We built the pyramids
Math, science, history
Unraveling the mystery
That all started with the big bang
Bang!

-Barenaked Ladies

Not a good or effective statement for me to be making, but... lol

I'm lost in this thread. I jumped from the first page, to the last page, and then to the second last page.

It started out with somebody wanting to talk about Muslim issues, then it went on to talking about how the Universe, so I'll just try to bring this back on topic?

Ahem...

What about dem bombz, eh?

We are dealing with two different scientific theories here, the 'big bang' which explains how all matter in the universe was condensed down to a 'singularity' and, due to quantum fluctuations within that singularity, began to expand rapidly. It was NOT an explosion, implosion, or anything like that, it was a very rapid expansion.

This gave rise to the chemicals needed for stars to form, and through the formation of stars, which operate by fission, new molecules were created. These allowed solid objects, such as planets, to form.

The other theory here is abiogenesis, which literally means 'life from nonlife'. This theory shows how the chemicals and environment on the early earth were conducive to molecules forming together and forming simple amino acids, the 'building blocks' of living cells.

HELP ME! im covered with arabs and muslims here

And what's wrong with that? As long as they aren't fundamentalists, and you are aren't an evangelizing Christian or Jew then you should be fine XD

I don't agree with atheists. They may have morals, they may not, but the ones who tell people who believe in something, whether those people are Christian, Muslim, whatever, just tick me off. I'm a Catholic, but when you said stuff about atheists making threads about "...people who believe in... are...", I have to agree with you.

You can't blame some Atheists for being so vocal in their dislike of theists when some theists are so vocal in their dislike of Atheists.

Oh, and on a side note, a recent Pew survey was conducted looking at the religious/dogmatic knowledge of US citizens. Interestingly (to most, but not to me) atheists/agnostics/non-religious showed to know more about religion than those who are in fact religious. Perhaps it's that knowledge and comprehension of religions (which the religious seem to think we don't have) which leads us to the conclusion that atheism is the better road for us.

Check it out here.
