You guys may not understand what I'm trying to ask, but it's okay. I'll try to explain.
Do you think God, If there is one, would allow a person to go back in time and change history?
This thread is mostly for Christians, but you atheist may join in too. Since I'm an atheist I think this will be interesting.
But that is why i am agnostic, i think the God that is preached by religion is a dictator. Things we can and can not do, we have to praise and honor him, we can't do anything on Sunday.
And then it get's even more radical and limited in religions besides Christianity.
Don't know if this has been brought up, but I personally believe that if we even could travel back in time, we couldn't change anything.
Your existence at a previous date would change something. That means your theory says traveling back in time is impossible.

We'd see what we called the future in the past. Technically we are seeing the future which is also the present.
Which branch of Christianity is that? I'm Catholic, and we're consider very strict, yet we're still allowed to do stuff on Sunday. I understand why you dislike the god preached by religion, but for him to be a dictator, we would have to be restricted in far more ways than we are. Other than Sunday mass and prayer, I've never really done anything in the name of religion that any moral person would do without religion.
If there is a god with a plan for us, I don't see why time travel couldn't fit into it. I'm not saying it's possible, only that if it is, I don't see why God would have a problem with it.

I think this is one of the three theories of time travel. This one is the belief that you can't change the present by changing the past. The second one is that you can change the present by changing the past. The third one is that you can change the past to affect the present, but not in a way that you, as the time traveler, would notice. I personally like the third one the best, but the first one also makes just as much sense. It's only the second one that seems like it wasn't thought-out too well.

The third one states: you stopped the Nazis, no Jews were hurt! Congratulations. But sadly you never notice a million surviving Jews being rescued by the Americans and other Allies.

Hmm, guess my theory would be that you go back in time to kill Hitler, but something prevents you from being successful.
And in the Terminator movies there's an indestructible robot called Arnie. I do not believe that's true in real life.
That is funny since we are talking about something that isn't true.

Since Time Travel is a concept we don't understand it is something I can't reall describe.
The past is the past, it is what was meant to happen. You might travel back in time to stop somebody from doing something evil, but YOU might actually be the reason that that certain person did the evil action. When you travel back in time, you have already done it before, try and figure that one out.
