Strop made a thread about this a long time ago, but I couldn't find it. Even if I did, I would get yelled at for raising the dead, so lets just continue conversation here.

You guys may not understand what I'm trying to ask, but it's okay. I'll try to explain.

Do you think God, If there is one, would allow a person to go back in time and change history?

This thread is mostly for Christians, but you atheist may join in too. Since I'm an atheist I think this will be interesting.

I don't think you could make a major change in the past should time travel be possible. Say you assassinated Jesus; it'd be safe to assume that this would have a huge effect on the world. Christianity would never be started, and it has roots in the colonies, which later became America. Imagine how much that would shape your destiny, even if you don't live in America. It has still had a serious impact on the world today.
I don't think a change this epic would even be possible, because you may cause a chain of events that eliminate you from history, or at least the part of you that was bad-*** enough to travel back in time to snipe Jesus (and not in a good way).

god forsaw everything. he foresaw that a mad seintist would get a time mashine, get back in time to tell the inventor of the time mashine how it works, little difrence in history, butterfly effect, and the mad seintist blows up in a boom of logic.

GOD CANNOT SEE THE FUTURE BECAUSE THE FUTURE IS DEPICTED BY OUR FREE WILL.

the free will is seen by him and he knows what you will do.
that means if he exsist.

You're meant to capitalise Him and He when referring to the Christian God-the supreme ruler of the Universe. And if God creates free will he can probably tell the future.

For a omniscient being? All-knowing? He knows everything, He knows everything that will happen, everything that has, He knows everything that is happening. Are you disagreeing that the supreme being in this Universe (if he exists) is not the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent being?

LMAO, he knows the choices you will have but he won't know which one you choose. Seriously you guys, he can't see that far nto the future its not possible.

*sigh*, So let's say God is real - if he can do things like MAGICALLY heal ppl, then why not see the future? It's just as good as him going invisible, making his time machine, go forward, check it out, come back without a trace he was there in a fraction of a smaller fraction of another fraction in a second, that's basically an all-knowing being.

Even though I'm agnostic.

If time travel was meant to happen then somebody would have met someone who travelled back in time.

I mean isn't that obvious. It's either that or we live in a very boring time that nobody in the future wants to go to.

If he existed he might still want us to see into the future. Who knows what he wanted.

Every second we are witnessing 1 second further in the future than 1 second in the past, if God did not want us to witness the future there'd be no time.

Actually we are only capable of seeing the past.

Actually we are only capable of seeing the past.

Actually we can only 'remember' the past. Don't actually see it.
