I don't. I've lost all faith in America and everything it seems to stand for. All that is a lie. The government doesn't give a crap about you or your life. They just want money, and for you to shut up. Therefore, I will not pledge my allegiance to any nation, corrupt or otherwise. I only pledge my allegiance to God(sorry Atheists, but I gotta have something you know?). I know I'm going to be called a Nazi or terrorist for this but: death to the American government(wait, all it STOOD for is already dead, so haha.).

Sounds to me like the lowered mainstream of patriotic personalities of modern "Americans". I guess being patriotic isn't cool these days. I chant it, even loud enough to be in a normal speaking voice, as horribly-ridiculous as that sounds. Most people who speak don't even utter an audible mumble and call that patriotic. Bull schiesse. Judge me how you will.

I refuse to say the pledge. I will stand up but that is about as far as i go. Mostly for the under god part. Also, because America is not nearly as great as it claims. Being that i live in a very conservative town people tend to get kind of mad at me when i dont say it

There are such ways like saying the pledge and skipping the "under God" part. Where's that federal law proposal when you need it the most lol XD

I refuse to say "one nation under God," during the pledge.

Well first off I am not very patriotic for more reasons than that it is mainstream (which it is not. Also I do not say it for more than just the under god part.

It is lowered mainstream, since back then, people expected their kids to say the pledge loud and proud, and short years later, it's just a dead phrase to the masses.

Ok, let me clarify a few things:
1. I can't leave this country yet b/c I'm not yet 18.
2. I am for the values the government was founded on and the basic principles of democracy. What I don't like is how the corruption in this nation has led to a kind of democracy where it's who has the most money that has the most power.
3. I am a Christian so, yes, I would say the "under God" part if I had to. Why I stay Catholic lies in my need to have something to keep me going; to make me feel as if I have a purpose.

I do appreciate the constructive criticism. I do see where you all come from with your arguments.

For those who ask why I do nothing about it, what can I do? I'm 14 and I really doubt protesting is gonna help me get my point across.

which it is not.

Reading these forums, I would beg to differ. All the "cool" kids hate this country, and the people that love it are old. 30 years from now no one will say the pledge at all.

I'm not cool, and I'm not old. But I love the country. I hate the government, but I love my country.

30 years? Yes, we will still say it, and I will continue to glare at people who hate this country, and cuss our those who openly express it.

Because I'm not going to go to anywhere and hate the country. I might hate its government, or its problems, but not the country. Therefore nationals should not hate my country, nor anyone elses.

You just explained my point right there.

Ever heard of the band wagon? People have turned hating stuff into popular thought and thus everyone, afraid of being ostracised for their differences plays along, and after years of playing along, they beleieve it. Thus the viscious cycle continues. Until some popular speaker or something comes along and influences enough people this trend will continue indefinitely.

Yes, I agree that young people tend to get on the bandwagon but some of those kids really and truly mean what they say. Teens can make decisions just as well as adults can. Take Alt for example, when he was 12 on this site, he was one of the most intelligent users on this site.

I don't hate the country, I do hate parts of the government though. I haven't said the pledge since elementary school. I don't say it because of two reasons. One: It means nothing to me, I don't need a song to support the USA. Two: I don't believe in God and so I find it insulting that people expect God and not themselves to keep the country going.

The Pledge of Allegiance isn't a song. Maybe you're thinking of the Star-Spankled Banner?
Anyway, nobody needs it. But it's nice to remember the things that men died to keep this country going. I doubt you think about it every single day, but during the pledge I always remember those things.

Kirby covered number two pretty well.
