In an attempt to keep another thread on topic I decided to create this one. How important was Jesus? In my opinion he is the single most important man in human history. Was he God? Well honestly that's not what this is about so shh go argue on some other thread.
Well, even if he wasn't the son of God he was a very important figure in history. He taught many great morals, like love and forgiveness. I wouldn't go as far as to say he is the single most important man in human history though. I don't really think anyone is more "important" then someone else... Society needs a lot of people to function. Sure, it needs police officers, great thinkers, and a president/prime minister, but it also needs people to cut your hair, to bring you your mail, and to move your things when you buy a new house.
No, not the most important. The guy in Sumeria who founded the very first civilization was the most important. Or Abraham, who had at least 3x the influence Christ had. But they were all monumentally important.

I think the word you're looking for is "influential." If you talk about influence, then Jesus, Muhammad, and Abraham are probably the most influential people of all time. Even if you don't believe that Jesus really existed, you cannot deny his influence on the world.
Importance is more relative. Muhammad is not important in my life because I'm not a Muslim.
Whos history are we talking about. Jesus is not the most important man in everyones history. Im pretty sure Islamic people count Mohammed as their most important and Im guessing your christian so you would say jesus.
Im sorry but your talking from a small bubble here, and it needs to be burst. There is so much more out there in the world.
He led to the creation of the Catholic Church and thus led to the prosecution of almost every European from the Medieval Century up until the 1800s.
No, the people who prosecuted the Europeans were responsible for that. If the religion was followed as Jesus intended, the persecution wouldn't have happened. So you cannot really blame Jesus for that.
That's like blaming the creator of nuclear technology for the killing of millions of Japanese people.
As a Christian, of course Jesus is the most important figure in both history and my life. He was also obviously one of the most influencial person in history.
I agree though, importance is relative, and it depends on which higher power you follow to determine the importance of Jesus, and other figures.
He was not the most important. Important people make advancements in scientific knowledge. Jesus said things that are disputable and refutable for some people. You can't refute proven science, but religion is never proven true.
Therefore, I think Albert Einstein was one of the more important humans.

Einstein is deffo far more importent in my opinion. Religion has been around for ages. progress is slow. People like einstein come along and *whammooo* the world changes in a hundred years in a way never before seen.

Progress is not always scientific. Jesus advanced the world from its harsh religions and started a new era of humankind. Albert Einstein has been around for 100 years and taught us a neat little way to explode the heck out of Japan.
