I do not feel very comfortable around homosexual people, I feel like there out to get my bum haha. I really dont understand why i feel like this, whenever i spot a homo i stay as far away as i can. I feel homophobia is just a natural reaction to something you dont like, for example snakes or spiders its just a phobia. I think that this phobia will never go away in alot of people, just because its natural. Although many people over come their phobias. What do ou all think of homophobia or phobias at all?
The problem here is that MOST of the time (not all of the time) the person that disagrees explains so in a very rude, immature manner. Also, they usually don't have a justifiable reason to disagree.
This brings back memories...
Many years ago, I started a relationship with another guy (mmhmm, no joke). At the time, I actually didn't much about my sexual orientation but realised that to simply say I was 'straight' wasn't anywhere close to the end of the story (though I'll qualify this by saying that orientations/perceived orientations can change!)
Anyway, so I was quite serious about this relationship, and I had a close lady-friend, whom I related the news to. She was all "I'm very happy for u" for a while, until she broke down and confessed that she'd just realised she was a homophobe, and that she couldn't help but feel revolted. She then explained that this was uncharacteristic of her (it indeed was), and that it must have been related to her upbringing (it likely was, given the way she reacted to other controversial things that were not covered by her background).
That's what I found so refreshing: she did not attempt to justify herself in any way, but instead recognised something, was completely honest about it and promised that she would overcome it. Really, in this way it is no different from breaking a bad habit. And I felt none the worse for telling her about myself at that point or afterward.

On a slightly unrelated note, one thing that people don't understand is that expression of orientations can change- most people get wrapped in the identity politics (perhaps the seeking of fellowship is where some people feel the dreaded clutches of social influence). More recently I've learnt that while I can relate to either sex on some levels, on other levels I'm rather compelled towards being attracted to members of the opposite sex. This, as some have admonished, makes updating my stance a bit of a chore as it also means I have to attempt to do the various complexities of my situation justice!
So in the end, at this point I think quite a few people are going to think that I'm bisexual when I appear to be more heterosexual. But you know what? I couldn't be bothered enough to care. It's not like the fundamentals of my outlook have changed.
...in a way I wish I was more bisexual. It's way cooler, lol :P
Well... I don't mind gay people. But I cannot stand gay people acting gay twords me. I hate it. It disguists me. But, if they're cool and not parading for gay rights in my face, then I don't mind them.
But I cannot stand gay people acting gay twords me
One might demand a line be drawn somewhere. Are we talking pre-op Mr Garrison and his ill-begotten plans to get fired (I'm not sure I want you all to know this reference), or are we talking two members of the same sex holding hands on a street corner?

Translation: I am fine with homosexuals until they want to exercise their rights that are given to them just as they are given to me under the Constitution of the United States of America. They should hide who they are because we are not all created equal no matter what you say. Ew.
i don't agree with the homos at all but i think both homos and heteros should at least have the same rights and privileges. and who cares if it's a choice or not they are gay either way.
Well how would you know? I have studied homosexuality to a small extent, but I do know that it is in your hormones that "makes you gay." I bet alot of gay people wish that they were straight to escape the ridicule and get better rights, but why don't they? Because it is NOT a choice.
Zerato dont start it lol. Not gonna turn out pretty. I know, I tried >_>
We support all views here, as long as you have a way to defend it. Just saying 'Gay is a choice' is going to get shot down because it has not evidence listed with it. Sounds more like an opinion than actual science to me.
Not really. Real homosexuals have a mental disorder that make them that way. You can't just wake up in the morning and say "I think i am going to be gay today". It does not work like that.
