The CRISTIAN SITUATION is what i would call the revealing of how strong of a Christan you are. The question here is directed towards Christians, but can apply to all religions. There have been instances where a person held a gun to anther's head and told them to say that they didn't believe in GOD. This person was a Christan and refused to and was killed, was this faithfulness, stupidity, suicide, what do you think of this situation, and how would you react?
The dude is delusional. He probably wanted a shortcut to heaven (yeah right). What kind of God would demand faith so that people risk their lives to prove their "worthyness", or gullibility?
Any god. Every god would say you get a chance to believe in me so if you dont then you wont go to heaven.

Really? Zuese didn't. The Aztec gods din't. The Egyption god's didn't. The only god that seems to want to be believed is the god that claims to be all loving and all caring, nice logic there.

Which means that if you don't worship that god, you get to spend all eternity suffering. Yay!
What I was saying is that an intelligent designer wouldn't reward people who are guillible enough to believe in a deity by granting them access to heaven.

really? i thought that is you defied zuese he would KILL YOU. And astecks had to offer people, as far as Egyptian goes idk, but i would have to say it is common in myths, but doesn't apply to Christianity

False, they believed that you whould be helped if you sacraficed, but they still thought that non-believers still whent to the same place instead of gitting eternal torture. There is a huge differance between having a good crop and having eternal bliss...
And for the record, Cristians origionaly sacraficed as well, so go read your magic book again, and return when you know your own myths.

You read it. I don't recall it EVER saying anything about a magic spell. And from an Athiests point of view you ren't supposed to beliveve in our ways so... why would you even CONSIDER it being magic?
This always makes me angry... STOP STEREOTYPING US AND WE WILL STOP STEREOTYPING YOU. Athiests are ignorant themselves. It is the dumbest idea in history to try and explain WHY the world does what the world does. For instance, THE APPLE FELL BECAUSE IT CAN. Not because there is an eight hundred word story about some stupid thing called gravity. I hate going to public schools. Too many arrogant idiots that try not to embrace the fact that we are PRIMITIVE and shouldn't waste our time trying to explain the world. WHO CARES WHY THE APPLE FELL!? Also I personally don't even LIKE science. Too confusing. Instead of "Shiny rock... pretty." We say, "Oooh... a heavily altered alloy made from coal and refined iron... STEEL!" This is HIGHLY unneccesary. So, I think I just said what millions of christians have wanted too about science. And about anybody who believes in it, which fails to go by our true nature, which is too survive. NOT to figure out the world's properties. And no. I doun't want to know about the world. I would rather go with my theory about the apple falling because it can, thank you very much.

He's not saying he does believe in magic.

Is this just a mockery of what you think a theist stereotype is or are you being serious?
Science without Religion is lame, Religion without Science is blind. - AE
Okay let's play the Einstein quote game.
"For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions." -Einstein "The idea of a personal God is quite alien to me and seems even naive" -Einstein
When Einstein spoke of religion he spoke of the feeling of wonder and awe he and others got when contemplating the universe. Similar to how one of religion feels to there faith.

Honestly, that's just a sad existence. You're certainly entitled to approach the world with whatever level of curiosity you see fit, but to just go around blindly without asking questions is just... sad.

If the human race just sat around saying "ohh pretty rock" without saying "chemical property blah blah alloy whatever", then we wouldn't have computers, stable buildings, or any other luxury that gives humans their advantage over primitive animals. Chances are, if the human race was't inquisitive, we would be mentally and physically inferior to wild animals, and through natural selection, we'd be wiped out. Extinct. You would not exist today. So maybe you can think about that next time your science teacher or whoever begins talking about "chemical property etc etc".
I don't agree with that other christian for the record, i love science but still believe in God. Lets please stay on topic though, this isn't the Atheist VS. Christian thread, please read the question and have it relate to that in some way.
