You might find it silly me saying this, but really!, the amount of people I have come across on this site alone that hold the view of... "I dont care what others do to their own body/life/world"
...is, quite frankly, astounding.
Here is some undeniable facts, and please dont bother with naysaying this, because it might be idealistic, but the world wasnt formed on the backs of the stagnant thinker.
1.There is enough food to feed the world many times over 2.We can give everyone some shelter 3.everyone can have a sanitary enviroment 4.everyone can have communication 5.Everyone can have transport
And this could all be free.
But if people keep on only caring for themselves this will never happen, and without people like me to encourage free thought and spread some love (everyone needs love, just think john lennon) the world is going to go down the dark path that people are so afraid of and yet, are too scared to stand up against.
Now you dont have to do anything proactive. Im not asking for freedom fighters, or martyrs, or fundamentalist thinking.
Talk... please just talk. Debate, argue, think, change, learn and grow. This is all achived by talking and communicating.
I have learned a great many things since posting on this site just through talking. And tho I may seem a bit stubborn I really DO listen and take on board all views I read.
So the main aim of this thread is to pass a message to those who would hear it and a warning to the tools who would not.
Start caring about your world, or else you will find yourself in an uncaring world of your own design.
And finally, if you wont listen to me perhaps you will listen to bill hicks.
"Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace."
I love you all...
...
...
especially the good looking girls you get extra love
Maybe you should follow your own advice then, as its obvious there are some people who scoff at the very idea of living in a better world and will not listen to people who care. If you want to make a joke out of change, then im sure politics would suit you.
And Im not the only one who doesnt agree with the way the world is, so dont act like im some spoiled bratt who is stomping his feet because daddy didnt give his allowance.
AnaLoGMunKy, good point. Great OP. Althoght, if some one wants to **** all day long i'll try to stop him, but if he looks sane when he says he wants to do so I will try appeal to his reason, but that's it.

This is so true. Look at all the millionaires who inherited their fortunes without doing any work, and look at the labourers, who work so hard yet are still underpaid. Look at the homeless, the starving, the poor and needy. THESE are the people we need to help for a peaceful society.
"Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace."
The only problem with this is that it would require total cooperation of the human race. There will always be people who want power. The only way to take out a corrupt powerful people is though powerful people.
As long as someone has power, they will be considered "corrupt" because they don't spend their money on peaceful things and poor people. You need to have a power were you can fight those who try to cause trouble. Yes, of course it sounds better to stop having a military and to redirect all the funds to food and shelter, but that will leave a whole nation defenseless. What's the point of being all about peace if you get you ass blown away by some power crazed nut?
Rich people aren't evil. If I had money, I wouldn't want to give it all away. I would want to share it with my family and friends. Sure, I would help out others as I see them and even donate money to charities, but with that money I would also have a responsibility. If I was rich, chances are I would need the money to support people working for me or to pay for my business needs.
The problem with many rich people is not that they don't redistribute their money; it is not wrong to be rich. What is wrong is when a rich person distributes their wealth among other wealthy people.
Let's take America. The big CEOs should be supporting smaller businesses so that they can support the working class. However, too many CEOs are paying other CEOs in other countries to make cheap goods. Those CEOs pay their people directly, but not enough to redistribute the wealth.
Many people who are poor can't help but to be poor. Others deserve to be poor because they are lazy. If the middle class feels financially secure, they should help support the poor enough so that they might work and become a part of the middle class.
The upper class supports the middle class, the middle class work for the upper class. The lower class should not be given anything but jobs so that they may also become lower class.
Classless society sounds great, and would be, but someone will always be the richer, always. Even in a "classless" society, some people who don't work will become poor, automatically created a middle and lower class. It just can't be helped.
"Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace."
Oh but there's always ' the baaaaad guy ' -- The nasty mother F****ker that wants to have it all. He obviously can't get it all, but he'll continously start nabbing and grabbing etc. Eventually he'll die and the money will spread and you'll have buisness, corporation, middle class, starvation, etc.
Just because there's enough FOOD to feed us 'many times over' -- who decides who eats the meat and who eats 10 bowls of rice?
Great post, NoName. I completely agree with it! Its best to work towards getting rid of hunger and poverty than to just upchuck a country, change the government, and hope all goes well.
France tried it and they're still not close to the beauty of equality that your going for. (I will agree that it helped 'em, though)
Yep. Less focus on revolution and more on ACTUALLY helping people by feeding for them, providing for them, giving charity and in the case of Muslims Zakat. Cuz revolution begets sorrow and misery, at least at the onset.
The only problem with this is that it would require total cooperation of the human race. There will always be people who want power. The only way to take out a corrupt powerful people is though powerful people.
Thats why I talk, I cannot and will not become one of these people. I like your post, and as I have said, Im being idealistic, but hey Im gonna dream and I want you to as well (that sounds kinda gay, sorry).
1.There is enough food to feed the world many times over
1. Learn to use satistics. This point is a joke and highly laughable.
What! I dont need a darn statistic to see how much food the western world wastes. Statistics are good for some things... but I can safely say this is an undeniable fact.
2.We can give everyone some shelter
2. Have fun in your treehouse/igloo/3 year old nephew's playhouse.
Now your just being derogitory because you couldnt think of something smart to say!
3.everyone can have a sanitary enviroment
3. Try telling that to groups like the Amish.
I dont know what you mean, but if someone WANTS to roll in filth thats fine, but we have the ability do we not?
4.everyone can have communication
4. Last I checked, that was what tounges are for.
Deaf ppl use sign language, so thats just nasty... :P but really, I use fingers... kinda like right now to write my slightly sarcastic drunk message back to you... stfu
5.Everyone can have transport
5. Just pass out bikes and get over yourself. Oil will be gone in the next 100-150 years
Ill have you know I DO use a bike. And I cannot wait for the frikkin oil to run out.
So at any point do you not actually WANT these things balerion? Do you want the world to dive into a non biblical (or biblical depending on your religion) darkness, i.e. an age of the selfish, self driven, manipulative, look out for number one etc etc etc...
America is one of the best nations on the planet (if not the best), but unfortunately our immigration policy is not one that helps the world as much as it could. I believe that everyone in the world deserves the resources that you stated (all of which we have in America) regardless of where they were born. We need to legalize all the illegal immigrants who are in the US (they'll be here anyway, at least as legal residents they can pay taxes and work for competitive wages), as well as accept more people from poor conditions. It will hurt our economy to let in more poor immigrants, but without illegal aliens working for less money most jobs will be earned based on experience and not wage.

Lennon is a hero to me. Imagine was never meant to change the world, but to get people to think; at least that's what I believe. I'm not John Lennon, so I don't know exactly why he wrote the song.
My post contradicted almost everything in that song. However, the contradictions are due to the ugly truth that evil does exist.
If there's anything that we should grasp from Imagine, it's not that we should strive to live in such a world, but that we should treat others completely unbiased. Bagism.
Rather than applying the song to the world, it is best to apply the song to your life. That way, rather than fighting the system, you may actually act out as a good person and effect those around you and really make a change. It's selfless generosity that always does more than any parade... and even laying in bed all week. (Thanks John)
Trust me, despite how it sounded like I had no room in my brain for these ideas, I do take them to heart and I try to use them to be a better person. In fact, I made a thread similar to this one based off the same song quite some time ago.
