I'm creating this thread to discuss the international involvement in the so-called "crisis" in Haiti. Am I the only one who believes that Haiti should solve its own problems? Haiti contributes virtually nothing to the US economy or the economies of the other global superpowers. Why should we be trying to solve their problems when we have those of our own? I say that we let them deal with their own problems. Our involvement there isn't going to help them contribute to the world and it's only digging us deeper into the recession.
So it all boils down to who you want to save: a puppy or a PERSON . . . .
Cook the puppy save the person B), BTW would a shack that costs less to fix then a cheap house, therefore less money needed, lets not forget the reason they are in shacks it is an over populated area that DEPENDS on IMPORTS to sustain itself otherwise the population would be alot less... seriously how many Haitian Farmers (idk if any farms exits on a very small island)got effected by the Earthquake, even though they live on a Fault line...the fact is people have been living in dangerous locations since the dawn of civilization for what ever reason and just because they decided to live in such a place is it our responsibility to help everyone who pays for such consequences...don't forget about Pompeii they are great examples of how humans create their own suffering...I also can live with hurricanes without the aid of millions, they should accept that they must live with earthquakes, poverty is not the issue as much as over population, anyways isn't this one of the reasons the U.N. was made? international support for nations...as long as they are part of it...
