I get mad when i see Spanish subtitles on boxes or a Spanish news channel, i wonder how far is to far. I do not hate immigrants but i demand them to learn English if they come here. here are my reasons.
#1. If Spanish is on a cereal box why isn't everyone language known to man, not every one speaks English or Spanish in America.
#2. A country needs a dominant language to be successful and and to unite everyone in a way.
#3. Language should be like currency, you should have one main one, not a bunch.

i do not think people should only know English, i encourage learning other languages, but putting multiple languages on all items can lead to problems, and possible decrease communication in the USA.

ok then what race is ALL NON-American's I wonder?

Don't be a tool. You know what I mean. I should have used the word discriminatory and not racist. I apologize for selecting a word you will misinterpret.

i'm against all Spanish speaking people THAT WANT TO BECOME AN AMERICAN CITIZEN BUT REFUSE TO LEARN THE LANGUAGE

No need to scream at me bro.

not because there Spanish it is because they refuse to learn the modern native language and still want citizen ship

Why are you against the gov printing Spanish on the voting cards? The Mexicans are people and US citizens who probably contribute more to society than a lot of people. They can vote and deserve the right to be informed in politics. In California, most gov notices are written in Spanish and in English. Why? Because it is the gov's duty to serve the people. If it benefits the large amount of native Spanish speakers, it it serves its purpose. I have no issue with things being printed in two languages.

Maybe you should learn Spanish to talk to those people.

Thats backwards, you move to an English speaking country you learn to speak English. I shouldn't have to adapt to accommodate someone who came into my country.

I think for a mukticultural society to be successful, everyone must learn the mother tongue, or you'll just end up with the gheottised communities Parsat eluded to.

Language is simply a key aspect of integration. It is not simply a means of communication, but an integral aspect of the culture of a nation, and therefore you are much more likely to get on with someone who speaks it. So yes, I do think it's important people speak the same language. That doesn't have to mean a complete rejection of their original tongue, rather an embracement of a new one in addition to it.

So its better not to understand people? Granted, It would be helpful to the immigrant if he spoke English, but if you already know his foreign language, then you can communicate with him easier and better.

I think the quality of immigrants has gone down, now they have become more lazy in my opinion, i have nothing against immigration at all, in the older days when immigration was hot, the immigrants had to learn the language to survive, now the government will give the money to do nothing, even if they are illegal.

What kind of olden days are you talking about? Methinks you have never looked into the conditions that the Chinese or the Europeans suffered in these "olden days."

And what of Spanish labels under the English? What is exactly incorrect about allowing other people to understand? Trust me, it's a lot worse in China. Every street sign, every bus stop, even every food package invariably has some English or English transliteration under the Chinese, correct or incorrect.

And what of it? As China is expanding as a world power, you will notice that they are actively seeking to make the aspects of their daily lives accommodating to people from the outside. And for those of us who are from America, that should come across as a huge difference to why America is contracting and China is expanding.

The age has passed where America is a strange world where every dream can happen. Our birth rate is contracting as we are becoming more educated, and our only real growth is coming from immigration. I myself am the descendant of so-called "educated immigrants," but I do know other Chinese people who came in illegally, became as integrated as they could, and had children and grandchildren who rapidly assimilated to become good citizens. I am not for illegal immigration, but for all immigrants who are here, we should realize that there are incredible barriers socially, linguistically, politically, and economically to integrate into an alien society.

Whats wrong with their own culture? They can practice it legally thanks to the First Amendment. You don't like Chinese New Year or something?

Irony is ironic.
If you're going to rip on another racial denomination for not speaking English, the least you could do is do it correctly.

*ahem* You get mad over strange things. Why would Spanish subtitles bother you? They're not speaking in Spanish, are they? Spanish-speakers should have a right to watch those channels/movies/etc too.
If it angers you to see something in Spanish like that, why in the world would you watch a Spanish television channel? It's like complaining that hitting your head on the wall hurts. If you don't like it, then stop watching it/doing it. Duh!
#1. If Spanish is on a cereal box why isn't everyone language known to man, not every one speaks English or Spanish in America.

Because the majority speaks Spanish or English. If you come to America, and you don't speak a word of English, you're screwed, and that's your own fault. Sorry if I'm being harsh, but be serious. Also; I find it weird that you picked a cereal box, of all things, as an example. It's not like cereal boxes are important in any way.
#2. A country needs a dominant language to be successful and and to unite everyone in a way.

There is a dominant language, you doofus. It's called English. A dominant language is the language that a majority speaks, and guess what? The majority of Americans speak English, at least to some degree. Also; I know how everyone in America is united. They're all in America, and most of them chose to be there! Whoopee!
If by "dominant" you mean dominant as in "what absolutely everyone speaks/does/etc", then here is my response: yup, just like The Holy Roman Empire needed a dominant religion for unity. And look how that turned out.
#3. Language should be like currency, you should have one main one, not a bunch.

But why? You need to supply a reason why English is the best language and everyone should speak it. I get that it would be practical if everyone spoke the same language, but it is waaaaaay too late to start doing that now. English is a universal language. Most countries teach it as a mandatory class in their schools. That should be good enough for you. Because that's exactly what you're asking for. Idiot.
i do not think people should only know English, i encourage learning other languages, but putting multiple languages on all items can lead to problems, and possible decrease communication in the USA.

*facepalm* Again; can I plead how? You encourage learning other languages? Are you a bilingual? Trilingual? Do you speak multiple languages? I will further destroy you when you have answered that question.
Putting multiple languages on things can lead to problems...such as what? Idiots getting mad over nothing? If you cannot read the label on, for example, a lamp, then you should not buy the lamp. The primary statement there, is two languages. English and another language. So why do you care? Your language is on there. It's only fair if somebody else's language is on there too. I get that you think it'd be easier and simpler if only one language is on the lamp, but you only say that because your native language is English. Let's say your native language was Spanish, but you spoke English fluently. Even so, wouldn't it be ten times easier for you to read something written in Spanish? It's about acceptance and making life easier for the immigrants(note correct spelling).
Decrease communication? On the contrary, it would increase communication, by making it easier for immigrants(again, note the correct spelling of the word) to read, speak, and do the things they enjoy.
Thank you and good night.

no no. I don't care about the culture. They can practice it if they want to, but...It's more how immigrants say: "In my country we used to this. Now everyone do this!"

and that is why most of the world hates Americans...

"In my country we used to this. Now everyone do this!"

That is such a small percentage of people. Most immigrants leave you alone, if you leave them alone.

Why can't the Spanish people vote and make political decisions? Most of them probably make better decisions than most Americans...
