I get mad when i see Spanish subtitles on boxes or a Spanish news channel, i wonder how far is to far. I do not hate immigrants but i demand them to learn English if they come here. here are my reasons. #1. If Spanish is on a cereal box why isn't everyone language known to man, not every one speaks English or Spanish in America. #2. A country needs a dominant language to be successful and and to unite everyone in a way. #3. Language should be like currency, you should have one main one, not a bunch.
i do not think people should only know English, i encourage learning other languages, but putting multiple languages on all items can lead to problems, and possible decrease communication in the USA.
English is the national language, if you live in America and don't speak it people shouldn't do extra work to make up for it.
Now here is the problem: it's one thing to put everything in a second language, such as French or Spanish. The problem is, not every immigrant, especially true for America, speaks French or Spanish. Quite a few of them speak middle eastern languages, European languages, and even some African languages; and they don't know a word of English. The reason why it would be nice for them all to learn English is so they could communicate with each other, not just the English-speakers; and they wouldn't have to put Farsi or Swahili on every sign.
No one is refusing to learn English immigrating here. I'm sure immigrants here would appreciate the ability to understand English and be literate in it. On the contrary, the problem I see is that our resources for teaching English are not sufficient.
Ok first off i did not say they shouldnt be able to and secondly if they dont know english then they are probably not an american citizen thus they should not and do not have the right to vote
Too bad for you, they are. They are plenty of American citizens who don't know English. As citizens of this country, they deserve the right to make good political decisions. They can make better decisions by reading the voting script in their native tongue.

There are night schools and adult education available. Most public schools have English classes for foreign children.
As citizens they should speak the national language.
Get your head out of your ass and please learn how to read. You can be a citizen of the US with out knowing English. They are other people besides you, you know.
