This is a discussion thread about Marijuana, Cannabis, Weed, Dank, 420, Pot. It is currently legal in a few states, though they are regulating the usage of it.

contrary to popular belief, weed doesnt cause cancer, it's like alcohol, impairs your motor skills. that's about it.

I figure you young kids will be eventually come into contact with it once you hit your college/high school years, and it would be good to dispel some wrong and wayward thinking brought on by the government.

so please have fun, ask questions, keep it lighthearted.

For others who partake in god's choice smokes please give me some of your favorite dank

Weed is legal in a couple of states, cali, colorado. up in Canada, Vancouver has legalized weed. Amsterdam too.

It's a great experience really, not advocating you should try it, since it is also quite the expensive plant (prices are artificially inflated in legalized areas also for government control purposes)

anyway
cheers

wouldn't say there is an impaired memory, I mean most of the time people remember stuff while they are high. It is more of when you are calming down from the high and you do stuff. there really is no blackout periods like alcohol which is a depressant.

It is listed under short term side effects. There is short term memory loss, but no lasting damage to cognition. In fact, I just skimmed through a peer-reviewed article suggesting that moderate usage of marijuana actually reduces the likelihood of Alzheimer's.

Thank you baby boomers and your drug habits from the 60's!

Impaired memory and motor skills
Distortion in perception, particularly vision (because it relaxes your cornea)
Increased heart rate

How convenient! Something that relates to Human Anatomy! It also looses the suspensory ligaments that basically hold your lens in place. Since the cornea is loosened, more light is let in. Since the lens is loosened, less light is captured and sent to the photoreceptors. What does this result in? Blurred vision and lotsa bright light! Yay!

yea, thats what I was thinking, the problem is there was once a time when politicians banned alcohol (the prohibition) many mobsters and gangsters made a fortune off of that creating moonshine and ect. (al

Thats an argument for legalisation, not against it. You are taking the production and distribution of dro out of the hands of unnaccountable bad guys and regulating (and getting tons of tax $ i might add) out of it.

they should teach the truth and allow kids to make the right decisions about their life so many of them won't have a skewed perception of drugs and alcohol.

I completely agree. Even disregarding this, from a political standpoint, it is not, in my opinion, the role of government to tell people what is good/not good for them or restrict that consumption through taxation or prohibition. Just let people do what they want so long as it doesnt hurt anyone.

If you would like to contest my masters degree in psychology, please feel free.

Oh man, I totally wish I was one of those people who was so f*cked that you couldn't accurately profile them. That would be awesome. I would flaunt that due to my general distaste for psych.

what's really difficult about driving under the influence, is that it feels weird to press the gas pedal. And generally you end up going under the speed limit. unlike drunk driving there is more paranoia and therefore less recklessness.

There are actually several studies that discuss that, DDX.

Yea I read some of them, in my opinion I think it's stupid to drive under the affects of alcohol or drugs in general because it impairs judgment to a certain degree.

practically everything causes cancer, it doesnt cause lung cancer but it has other properties that could cause other cancers. I think that its fun to be high, i dont do it often but i enjoy doing it every once in awhile

Cancer is everywhere. I swear, breathing too much can cause cancer XD
Cancer is no laughing matter, but the amout of paranoia surrounding cancer is just outrageous.

Budokai, that is actually not a fact. The problem that people do not understand, is they take the "facts" they hear on TV. Here is the better example.

Remember back in the 90s when everyone was saying "Ohhhh pot makes you stupid, it KILLS BRAIN CELLS." Well, that was derived from one study. In that study the administrator gave 25 monkeys over 3 pounds of marijuana smoke to each monkey through a gas mask in under 45 minutes. Basically, they suffocated the monkeys, in turn killing brain cells.

The point: correlation (no matter how twisted it is) is never causation.

Budokai, that is actually not a fact.

Nothing is a fact. But it is still somewhat true. All that matters is if you are exposed enough and for a long time. Living will give you cancer if you live long enough.
This does not mean there is a risk that is worth even thinking about, because it is pathetic how many things that can give you cancer/make you die.
I have nothing more to say.

actually several studies as of late are claiming cell growth correlation. i am excited to examine those.

but a half-truth is no better than a lie in most cases. i would not say that it contributes to cancer. but that rolling paper youre using will.

it is hard typing on the wii!

Aside from the fact it's awesome fun (at least I remember it so, Amsterdam 09 wooo!) some chemicals in THC have been known to slow multiple sclerosis.

i really suggest watching the documentary called Union: the business of marijuana.

the fact of the matter is it is a natural wonder drug superhero.
