This is a discussion thread about Marijuana, Cannabis, Weed, Dank, 420, Pot. It is currently legal in a few states, though they are regulating the usage of it.
contrary to popular belief, weed doesnt cause cancer, it's like alcohol, impairs your motor skills. that's about it.
I figure you young kids will be eventually come into contact with it once you hit your college/high school years, and it would be good to dispel some wrong and wayward thinking brought on by the government.

Weed is legal in a couple of states, cali, colorado. up in Canada, Vancouver has legalized weed. Amsterdam too.
It's a great experience really, not advocating you should try it, since it is also quite the expensive plant (prices are artificially inflated in legalized areas also for government control purposes)
It can be a gateway drug, because people can mix other drugs into it and get you addicted without knowing it. It's unpredictable, and it depends on where you get the marijuana, because there are some dealers out there who mix addictive chemicals in to make their customers keep coming back for more.
Well then, get a dealer that you are actually friends with so you know you can trust him (or her)! Although, just to note, it's more who you hang out with when you smoke and the environment you are in. If you're with people that do harder drugs, then yes it can be a gateway drug. It's just how strong of a person you are. I have a lot of friends that have gotten into the harder stuff, but I usually just ignore them when they do it. =]
Also, no, you cannot get addicted to pot. BUT, for those that take it to relieve stress or because of emotional issues, it can get a little bit addicting. When I first started, that was why, and earlier this school year, in my height of smoking (i've calmed down a bit), I craved pot way more than I craved cigarettes.
And @DDX, my parents are extremely biased against weed because their parents told them it was terrible and the work of satan XD

well I mean there was a huge campaign against anything that emitted smoke after the surgeon general found out smoking is bad lololol. at first they promoted smoking since they thought it was good for you.

i have smoked since i was 12 years old i am now 52 & i can say fer sure that weed will enhance your natural stupidity as far as being a gateway drug i have used other drugs & alchohol & on some occasions pot smoking put me in close proximity to other drugs & people assumed i was down fer that (they were right)health wise it is not good for you but nothing is if not used in moderation as far as prices go since ca made medical mary jane legal i have seen DRAMATIC drops in prices so much so that some growers have had to curtail thier operations also the quality has improved so i see winners everywhere so.... roll on !!!

Not true, There's actually still illiterate people out there, also It really depends on how much you smoke, and referring to tony alesalt's guide for being a bum, if you only smoke with your friends who have weed, you don't have to pay a cent. We have stupid people here that actually ARE serious when they say something like it. Consider that the target group is 13-16, and that at least some of these people are... stupid. I wasn't quoting you directly. As mentioned, it does not go over text a place where half the users are from anywhere but the US, more than half take such things serious because they believe it to be right, and the rest of us thus have to figure out if the person doing it is doing so on purpose to be funny, or is an idiot.

you should also remember I really don't care about him, if he can't find the extra few seconds to make sure he uses grammar correctly why should bother being nice to him?

I ate lunch (Big one), went to a birthday and ate two burgers. Then I dumbly played soccer and paintball, and felt my stomach contract into a stone.
I remember my senior English project. We all had to write reports and present a power point to our class. I decided to do mine on marijuana, and why it should be legalized.
My presentation got the best reactions out of all. Most of the people in my small class smoked marijuana at least once before. They were the types of people who party every weekend and could care less if they abuse their bodies; they honestly believed the marijuana they were smoking were harming them in the long run!
I got so many compliments on my presentation that day. So many people told me "I always loved to smoke marijuana but I didn't know that!"
If, I did my senior project on that my dean would have slapped me lol.
I personally did not really pick up until senior year (2nd semester)
throughout high school and middle school, I was always taught marijuana will kill you and then take a steamy dump on your body, it wasnt until I did research myself did I find out the schools have been lying to you about marijuana.
It's sad that not only do the schools lie, but the TV and the government will lie to you about the truth of it all. The worst thing about cannibus is it is illegal.
Ok guys, first things first: yes, people actually have died from smoking pot, not directly, but it has happened. And yes, it can be very addictive. Also, when you buy your pot, you have no idea what it may be laced with. The person you buy it from could have done anything to it. Smoking a joint of marijuana is the same thing as smoking a twenty cigarettes. I've known tons of great kids who are extremely lively and fun to hang out with, but then they started smoking pot, and it all went down hill for them. They flunked school, only hung out with people who could get them more pot, and lost their entire social life, and life in general. Please think about this, not hate guys.
