The title says it all. What do you think? And I mean what do you REALLY think? Don't try to act like you're not a little biased if you are. I hate people that lie. And Zophia, if you come on, I already know you're opinion.
No, they're not equal. Not at all. That's been stated subtly, but I don't think anyone's outright said it. Women tend to be more elegant, faster, in some cases more skilled. And according to some people, women are smarted also, while Men tend to be stronger, more athletic, and again in some cases more skilled. That's just "Average" as in, if a brother and a sister (Same genetic parents) Are born, and they grow up normally, that's how they will MOST LIKELY end up, unless the brother strives towards being a fashion designer (Elegance) or the woman strives towards being a professional boxer (Athletics, strength.)
As for importance, I agree, Women out power men on importance for giving birth, and keeping a stable society.
Andrake, I think your posts are half-thought out, cautious not to offend, and quickly submitted without fully reading the one you're responding to.
You said, an average...is not... a stereotype. An average is collected data. Collected data is updated when all of the objects have been collected (to not skew the data), ergo, not dynamic per-say every nanosecond. Therein lies: Stereotypes.
lol that would be disgusting if there were one gender
No not like that.
I think a tomato plant (or a flower or something) can make more tomato's (or w/e) by itself, self-fertislisation. It's beyond our Evolution first though, it'll be natural for 2 people to make 1 when we're still, possibly, primitive to others. This is all just speculation mostly, but still.
Either way, most people lack perspective, aswell as their nature.
I hate these topics where I see these footballers, woop, good money, good excercise, good popularity (for the most part), they have everything. But if it weren't for other people they wouldn't be able too, they'd be struggling with survival, and may not advance in technology.
I'd like it if people were more social, so instead of footballing being a huge job, it'll be more like a social thing with betting and such. Meanwhile technological advancement (science etc) is the serious stuff, but it pays off when (and if) you find the big juicy piece.
It's mostly us that hold ourselves back, if there weren't wars and we weren't pumping our resources just to waste more energy and energy creation, it doesn't help at all.
Anyway... What I was trying to say is if men / women maintained perspective it we wouldn't need 2 genders (note what I said above), but we're not there yet, may never be there.
There are significant genetic differences between males andfemales. Neither are superior, but they are different.
I'm not talking about mere sexual differences either, however it has been scientifically determined than men tend to develop one side of their brain more than the other, whilst females are more balanced, which is why there tend to be more male high achievers. There are of course exceptions to this rule, but this is generally what happens.
I think that centuries of essentially patriarchal society has misconstrued this difference as inferiority and magnified it, thus ensuring women play inferior roles. Something which is certainly wrong.
Anyway... What I was trying to say is if men / women maintained perspective it we wouldn't need 2 genders (note what I said above), but we're not there yet, may never be there.
Side note: This is completely false; in terms of the evolutionary tree sexual reproduction is more recent than asexual reproduction and is much more preferential because it allows for genetic variation.
Back on topic in society men and women are no where equal due to age old stereotypes (true or not). For example a women would clearly be more likely to get a job in child care while a man would be more likely to get a job in the field of mathematics.
No, not in the remotest are they equal. They have different strengths than weaknesses, but in any one thing one will typically be better. For instance, in strength, men will be better nearly always. Therefore I would trust them more for more heavy lifting type applications. In terms of strategizing things, as far as I've seen, women are predominately better at it. Therefore, when dealing with finances, managing, etc., I would trust women more.
Every field has different qualifications better suited to the average man or women than to the opposite.
In terms of rights, they should be completely equal. Are they? No. Nowhere are they truly equal, and that's only because laws cannot affect chauvinistic opinions.

For the most part, men and women are equal. They generally have their strengths and weaknesses with the occasional exceptions.
Men tend to be stronger than women. Men also have a tendency to be more logical thinkers while women think more along the lines of emotions. There are always exceptions though.
while a man would be more likely to get a job in the field of mathematics.
It's funny you say that because most of my math teachers have been female. I decided that I am going to avoid female math teachers as much as possible for now on. Seriously, they rarely know how to teach math.

There aren't any female math teacher at my High School so I suppose this was kinda bias :P

I meant in modern society not in actual abilities.
If you really are talking on a physical and intellectual level then no, there are differences. Emotionally, morally, psychologically, we are both equal generally. Overtime, we have given women the right to vote because we abolished the old ways and have incrementally come to realize that women really do mean as much as men do when it comes to making decisions, if not more.
Even for the most part, though the only true difference that effects all is that women have periods and have to go threw child birth, giving them a massive disadvantage before modern medicine.

In today's society, women have almost as many opportunities as men. A few things, such as becoming fire fighters, is still hard for women, but for good reason (you need strength). However, women tend to have an advantage over men if they know how to play their cards right. Women tend to be kind of timid when it comes to working. Guys are more likely to talk to their boss about stuff they don't agree with or ask for promotions than women are.
I don't think there is a lack of woman's rights, not in America at least.
Okay, this is spawned from what NoName is talking about. I think there are some jobs that women should not try to do, and the same goes for men. I don't want to see a man at a daycare, I also don't want to be rescued from a woman firefighter as said above.
Now, my issues are beyond that. A job that has nothing to do with the sex of a person and me NOT getting it. Which it is man's world in the sales area of the job market.
